Hi all,

Recently my anti-virus programme (AVG free addition 2011, virus DB: 1435/3429) has detected 'Trojan horse dropper.Generic3.MLN' in my BG2 folder. It showed the possible trojan was hiding in the mplayernow.exe. I am just wondering has anyone encountered this or is it just a false alarm, because I would have thought GOG has down a pretty good job at eliminating problem like this.

P.S. mplayer is the programme that came with BG2 for multiplayer right?

Yes.

This is likely a false positive. One of the reasons I stopped using AVG, as it seems to throw out a lot of false positives.

MPlayer died many years ago. The recommended way to play BG2 multiplayer now is to use GameRanger.
Thanks for all the replies. Since I don't play BG2 in multiplayer mode, does that mean I can just delete mplayernow.exe from my BG2 folder? I am a bit paranoide about all the trojan and virus stuff.

It's a false-positive and is harmless, but you can delete it if you want.
