I keep dying in most battles.
Any tips?

I've lowered the difficulty setting to the easiest but still get killed all the time.

Pretty tedious gameplay.

Alot of these old games are intellectually racist on poor sods like me not born with the grey matter.

Whereabouts are you in the game, what difficulty setting, and what class? At the start there are a lot of spell scrolls and items in Candlekeep that will help you.

I suck bdasly.I just keep getting killed all the time.Want to kill myself for real playing this. It's telling me "YOU ARE SO DUMB.STOP PLAYING THIS YOU FOOL!"

It's telling me I'm a loser this game.

I hate games that reveal your negatives.
I put this on the easiest setting.

I just click on the sword on the botttom when chased my monsters but my party all die.

I tried giving them better weapons but most will not take them and I don't know how to use potions in battle.

I hope this isn't one of those games with 1 billion KB commands.

That's why I love Skyrim.

Perfectly balanced so people dumb like me can enjoy it.

THese old games just make fun of dumbies and laugh in my face.

Snobby games for a certain cliche of people-the Ned Flander with the perfect brain,schooling,2 houses and 3 cars and perfect kids, everything I am not because my brain will not let me.

us dumbies should be killed at birth to save the agony of living.

P.S. this game has made me cry.Made me feel low to the deep pits of despair.I have to stop playing it.BF3 does that to me.THe only games that make me happy are Skyrim,Oblivion and a few racing games.I suck at the rest-really suck.
The trouble is the gaming industry doesn't vater for depressed dumb people. It caters to the perfect.

Wow. I'm pretty awful at tactical combat in general, but I had no real problems with BG1 or BG2, at least at the beginning. In BG1 the first time I played through, I was unable to beat the end boss (and later the nasty demon in ToSC) and had to basically replay the game using the level cap remover to get my part strong enough, but those were the only times I ever encountered anything like that.

I'm getting kiled almost all of the time.Do you think it's the mods screwing the gameplay up?

I'm using the BG trilogy mod.

I might uninstall and redownload and try it in vannilla mode because right now it's unplayable.
BGT does nothing to the difficulty. What class/level are you, and where are you fighting?

Right at the start pretty much.WEnt to some area that I was told to go too.I just ran most times to avoid the monsters but as soon as I have to fight ,they kill me every time.Lost count how many times I get killed.
Really depressing experience this game.

I can't remember the places I went too.
I did all the quests at the start and enjoyed the game. It's only when you venture into the woods, that the game goes from chocolates to boiled lollies.
As RealWeaponX says, BGT should not change the difficulty. Did you install anything else.

Also, you are aware of the pause feature (space bar) right? Pausing during combat and issuing commands to your PC and NPC's makes the combat much more manageable.
1. SPACEBAR pauses the combat so you can give orders, to all party members.
Give orders to all party members, concentrate on attacking a single enemy.

2. "i" is for inventory, you can drag stuff from here to any party members image and it'll appear on their inventory.
Put weapons in your weapons slot, potions or other usable items on your quickslots and wear the armour you might have.

3. Bows and slings are great because you can attack from a distance.

4. You need to choose your class and attributes pretty carefully in the beginning.
You can make a seriously messed up choices here, like a fighter with low strength dexterity and constitution.

5. Read the manual, you can skip it if you already know how D&D games work, but otherwise read the manual.

6. Read the manual again.

Think I will give it a miss.I get anxiety reading manuals and when I read my mind doesn't take anything in because of this.

Same with storylines in games.I don't hace a clue what's going on in games because my mind just refuses to comprehend anything.
O.M.G!!!

Hmm.. ok, you're probably making the right choice then since the storyline is the thing here.
Is this guy a troll? I'm sure I saw a similar post in the I-War forum.
I bought this game on its release day. I treated the combat like Diablo and hated the game because I couldn't keep up with all my characters. It took me too long to learn the secrets I needed to enjoy the game:

1. Auto-pause. This made all the difference in the world, for me anyway: it gave me time to stop, think and plan.

2. Equip every character with missile weapons and use those first on enemies. You can often destroy weaker enemies without taking a single hit.

3. (Standard RPG advice) If a task or area keeps killing you, your characters may not be ready yet. Take time to build them up.
I recomend this guide: http://www.pocketplane.net/volothamp/home.htm

It is well written with lots of images and easily understandable, even if you don't have a clue about D&D mechanics. I found it invaluable for my first BG game.
