Hey I have never played any dnd rpg's before is this game fairly easy to learn, and how hard is it I don't want something that's very frustrating.
Well Advanced DnD is very confusing at first, but this guide is very good at explaining it, and once you know the basic rules it is fairly simple.

As for difficulty; I won't suger coat it. This game is HARD. However, it is hard in good way (making you think about battles and how to win instead of letting the game play itself *cough* Dragon Age *cough*) and you can lower the difficulty at any time.

That being said it is a great game, and it is a lot of fun.

PS. Can somebody show me how to do links?

It's a rpg, not a strategy game, so it's not too difficult. You'll need a little save/reload to manipulate the dice in some situations but you can save after every step if you wish.
The rules are explained in the manual, but you don't have to understand them to play the game.

And if you get into trouble you can simply ask for help here.

I set the game to Hardcore rules and it was difficult, but not impossible. Below that, there's Normal (you won't have to worry about friendly fire) and Novice (you'll get better rolls and monsters do 1/2 damage and no friendly fire).

When you're learning the rules, you might want to set it at an easy level. And once you figure out that low AC is good and you've figured out who can use what weapons effectly and what magic spells buff well, then you might raise the difficulty to test your wits and preparedness.

It really is a great game. I played and beat it a year or two ago and I enjoyed every minute of it.

As a side note, if you have a widescreen or high res monitor, you may want to tweak your screen resolution with a tool. I just used it for BG2 (I'm just starting that now) and it made the text all much more readable.

You do have to worry about friendly fire on normal in Baldur's Gate - you might be confusing it with Neverwinter Nights.

Do note that in vanilla BG1 (aka not TuTu or BGT) lowering the difficulty reduces the experience you earn. Therefore, it's not worth lowering the difficulty at all, because the less experience makes the game harder overall.
The BG series are the best DnD games ever made imo. They're an excellent blend of RP and stratergy. BG1 is challenged but a lot of fun!
Yeah, just save often, and play tactically at all times, use the pause button!

The game is very, VERY rewarding, still one of the best RPG games ever made to date, playing through both sagas and expansions is a truly epic journey.
With the difficulty on Normal, the game is very challenging (especially in the beginning couple chapters.) But the challenge isn't insurmountable. The space bar (pause) is a great help. Once you get some practice in, I think you'll be fine.

The nice thing is that you don't have to know DnD rules. The game takes care of that stuff. I definitely recommend getting the game. Have fun and try to avoid walkthoughs. Enjoy the surprises!
just take the high risk high reward motto, whenever u conquer a challenging battle, its very rewarding xD so my advice is get the game and have fun ^^

BG TuTu requires BG2 as well, so you may have to stick with vanilla. If you do, DO NOT LOWER THE DIFFICULTY. You will gain less experience, and it will make the game harder overall.
