I've been desperately spending the last two nights trying to start playing the Baldur's Gate series with this 'Big World' mega-mod people keep talking about. Essentially I want to do that for the 'trilogy' experience of starting from BG1 to BG2 and the expansions, the widescreen mod, and I don't mind having it add in some user created quests and such.

If anyone is familiar with this aforementioned "Big World" mega-mod I am to to the point of needing to load up the game via the "TobExLoader.exe". Problem is I get these strange graphical issues upon loading the game as well as when I enter as shown:

I have already re-installed the game and the Big World patch. This occurs in the Baldur's Gate 2 package specifically even before the installation of the "Big World" mega-mod.

I'm not sure what else to do or what information to provide so someone may help. I'm running on Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate, have a GTX 460.

Does BG2 run correctly when you run it normally, without the mods?

No, I have the same graphical anomaly that is in that picture. I re-installed and have the same exact bug, both times without any mods at all
There are three things I can suggest.

1. BG2 has some graphics settings that are specifically meant to be turned on if you are experiencing graphical anomalies. If your in game menu works at all, you can change the settings by going directly into the graphics menu and messing around with those settings. The settings are called Software Mirror BLT, Software BLT, and Software Transparent BLT. I forget which settings address which problems, but try them out.

If you can't reach the graphics menu in game, you can change the settings through BGConfig. Go to your Program Files, find the GOG.com folder, and within it, the BG2 folder. Inside that is a program called BGConfig, run it. Under the Graphics > 2D& 3D Options tab, you can change those settings.

2. If the 2D settings don't change anything, you can also try turning on "Use 3D Animations" by checking the relevant box in the same tab in BGConfig.

3. If none of that solves your problem, there is a chance (although I doubt it) that you might have a problem related to the graphics issues I was having with the game. My problems manifested themselves differently though, in gllitching black boxes and slow frame rate, so I'm not sure that what fixed my problem will fix yours. On the off chance the problems are related though, you can try the steps I took, listed here:

I hope something in there solves your problem. I haven't seen that particular issue before though, so I can't guarantee whether any of them will work. Good luck getting the game up and running.

Awesome, thanks. I got it working by changing some settings in the config
Glad it worked for you. Have fun with the game!
