Hi. I made a Ranger and I'm happy with him. I don't really want to make him again, but I've started worrying about his INT and CHA.

I don't want a whole build guide or anything but I have two questions:
The manual doesn't really say much about attributes... it just says "INT Is the main attribute of a mage" or something. What does INT Do for a Ranger? Does it affect my dialogue?

Same thing with Charisma. Does it affect me being able to be nice or mean or whatever in dialogue? In Bioware games I always use speech options a lot. But my guy only has an 8... should I remake?

(Also I heard in BG2 if I have only 8 INT, which I do, I'll be screwed because of Mind Flayers. True? Although I heard I could drink a potion to restore my INT if it gets too low.)

Thanks.
Keep int and cha dumped and go on, even 3 int and cha are playable.

Int is useless in BG1 and it's not worth raising it for only one kind of monster in BG2 which will have to get a critical to hit you unless you're paralyzed (and screwed anyway even with 19 int). 6 int is enough to survive one hit, the chance to get hit by 2 criticals in a battle isn't very high.

Cha is mainly useful for getting cheaper shop prices and better rewards (not for getting dialogue options) in BG1 but you won't notice a difference if you have 15 or 8. For better rewards you can just put a charismatic party member at position 1.
For BG2 charisma is even less useful and you can get an item which sets it to 18 early in the game.
