I tried a google search but couldn't really find much discussion on the matter. I want to know what people's favorite/most effective cleric quest spell to get when playing Throne of Bhaal.

These are the options

- Aura of Flaming Death
- Elemental Summoning
- Energy Blades
- Globe of Blades
- Greater Elemental Summoning
- Mass Raise Dead
- Storm of Vengeance
- Summon Deva
- Summon Fallen Deva

I decided to go with Energy Blades as my first choice on Anomen. It's pretty beastly but I wish it lasted longer, the 20 disc's you get run out fast. Really want to try Aura of Flaming Death and Globe of Blades eventually. Curious to hear others opinions
You missed Implosion and both of the Elemental Transformations. Implosion is amazing because it does a huge amount of damage even if they make their save, and it bypasses enemy magic resistance so you can use it on almost ANYONE. The Transformations are kinda meh unless you need the resistances, but they're good as bonus healing. The elemental shapeshifting works better in IWD2, in my opinion.

Aura of Flaming Death and Globe of Blades are really good for Anomen (or Jaheira) as I generally use him up close and personal with Crom Faeyr. Energy Blades is great for Aerie or Viconia, as they're generally NOT up close and personal. Mass Raise Dead is better than Mass Cure for healing/curing the whole group, but I usually don't use it except on Viconia or Anomen (or a PC cleric) because they have millions of 7th level slots. I've never really been impressed with Elemental Summoning, and while Greater is better since you always get a Lord, I still find the monsters rather lackluster even as a distraction unless I'm soloing and really NEED a distraction. (I always end up reloading over and over until I get the "correct" Lord anyway.) Deva and Fallen Deva are a bit better, but they're nowhere near as good as the Planetars, and you can only have one Deva/Planetar out at once, so I generally don't use them if I have a mage in the group. It's nice that Paladins can get the Devas as a special ability, though.

Storm of Vengeance is without a doubt the worst, though. It does pathetic damage and allows saves... and it doesn't bypass magic resistance, either. All of the other damaging mage and cleric HLAs bypass resistances EXCEPT for Storm of Vengeance. Those things combine to make a pathetic waste of a slot, unfortunately.
If I had to pick just one favorite it'd be Aura of Flaming Death. AC, fire resist, deals damage and duration lengthens with leveling. I also quite like Globe of Blades, though you have to be careful about the rest of your party, since it deals damage to anything close to it.

First o’all lets clear something up... are you asking for just Cleric advise or both Cleric and Driud because Clerics don’t get ‘Greater Elemental Summoning’ and don’t need ‘Mass Raise Dead’ whereas Druids can’t raise the dead normally (Jaheira is a special case) and ‘Mass Raise Dead’ gives them a work around for this.

On wards- ‘Summon Deva’ & ‘Summon Fallen Deva’ are self-excluding i.e. one or the other and very useful fighters to have on your side (especially against undead)... they don’t get dispelled by the normal anti-summon spell effects & they both provide useful (different) high level spells.

Rule of one- ‘Summon Deva (Fallen or normal)’ & ‘Summon Planetar (dark or normal)’ are tactically useful spells but you can only have one Deva/ Planetar in play at a time so most people go with the Planetars because they are stronger in melee combat but Deva are sometimes the better choice e.g. Aerie could have a ‘Chain Contingency’ with ‘Otiluke's Resilient Sphere’ & ‘Deva’ set to go off if she gets made helpless... the Deva can ‘Raise’ any fallen comrades and even ‘dispel’ the sphere on her once it has dealt with whatever threat exists.

Elemental Summoning- get a bit of a bad rep & Druids like Jaheira get the vastly superior ‘Greater Elemental Summoning’ but they don’t count towards the rule of one so you can have a Deva & Elementals in play together.

Storm of Vengeance- does not hit friendly targets so is sometimes useful against peons/ mages in a summon intensive environment... unlike say ‘Fire Storm’ which will quickly have you under attack from your own Deva!

Aura of Flaming Death- is great for tanking or when soloing a tough group e.g. you can cast the humble ‘Sanctuary’ then just stand next to whatever needs killing... note that ‘Globe of Blades’, ‘Aura of Flaming Death’ & ‘Blade Barrier’ all stack together and DON’T kick you out of ‘Sanctuary’ when cast.
