Hi!

I recently started a Wild Mage main character. I'm using BG Trilogy, so I'm starting from level one in Candlekeep.

So far it's pretty fun... mostly like playing a mage character, but sometimes strange random stuff happens. I got turned to gold once and had a heck of a time figuring out how to change back (a simple Dispel Magic spell did it).

Anyone else ever played a Wild Mage? Any comments, opinions, thoughts?

Thanks!
I've played a Wild Mage in multiplayer, which can be absolutely hilarious.
Once I accidentally summoned a demon and when I tried to armor myself through spells I ended up getting silenced. Needless to say, I was ripped apart. It is also possible to accidentally summon Kangaxx himself, though this is an absolutely miniscule chance it will wreak havoc on any encounter you're in.

There are great advantages: Surges can make your spells more powerful than any other mage's can get and your first level reckless dweomer spell allows you to cast any spell for a level 1 slot. The downside is that you simply can't always rely on your spells. You may die in easy encounters or end up having to reload simply because you somehow destroyed all your gold.

As for tips: Play for fun, the randomness is more enjoyable in multiplayer. Always use the highest level of chaos shield you can learn and don't cast unnescessary spells, they're not worth the risk :)
Wild Mages aren't my thing. but I'm more the Swordplay type then a Magic wielder. even still, I prefer Conjurers and Necromancers. Sorry
