Baldur's Gate and its sequel seem to be the only games not on sale this week.

Is this because they don't want to compete with the newly released "enhanced" version of BS1?

I've had the games in my wish list since I joined the site, and was quite excited when I got the email saying "All games up to 50% off." A little bummed that Baldur's Gate isn't one of them.
"Legal and licensing issues" is the official answer.

BG1+2 were on sale during the last Christmas sale and again a few months ago during an Interplay promo, so... my guess is that there's some sort of licensing issue with BGEE. Basically, BGEE just came out and is still buried underneath an ocean of bugs, and the powers that be don't want plain old Baldur's Gate to go on sale and cut into their profits. If it was 50% off like most of the catalog, it would be a quarter the price of BGEE and would indubitably be the better purchase. Thus, no sale price. It's a shame, but them's the breaks.
Oh man, too bad you missed the huge D&D games sale. You could have gotten the Baldur's Gate games and the other GoG D&D games for under thirty dollars.
bummer. I'm still hoping to see them go on sale, but who knows. 20 bucks for both of them is still a great deal.
Definetly still worth it. I got mine before the big D&D sale. I gladly plopped down 20 for games I payed 60 each for when they were new.
Yeah, I knew the enhanced edition was bad news, I mean I suppose it did make a tablet version which is an interesting idea, but I just knew it was going to cause harm to the originals. Next thing you know they are going to take them off the site for good cause they be taking our profits too!
Unfortunate it's not on sale as it could have done well now after all the disappointed BGEE customers and the extra focus on Baldur's Gate in the media.

Even so, $10 for the proper version is a much better deal than $20 for the Enbuggered edition.

Westwinds, your profile picture is awesome. I can see your taste in games is strong, lol (Gotta love my geneforge series!)

Hey thanks. :) I'm really loving the games. I'm hoping some more Spiderweb games make it onto GoG
