Okay, it's been *years* since I last played BGI and II, and that's all well and good. However, what is being a pain is the fact that I can't recall how to open up the command console prompt. CTRL-TAB just highlights everything, ESC does nothing, and of course just typing does nothing either. Normally I'm not this dense and can troubleshoot most things, but I feel like a total dunce and it's irritating me. Yes, I've got Debug Mode=1 set up, which of course allows the CTRL cheats for heal and all that (saved for nasty fights with poor armour and such). All I use the console command for is for some passable starting gear and a bag of holding, and that's how I've played it for all but the first time I ever installed the game with old CDR discs. (All of which no longer work these days, hence me going for the GoG version.)

If this topic has already been covered, please forgives me.

EDIT:

For what it's worth, I'm installing the BiG Project, but I wonder if that'll make the console command pop up once more? Ugh, I feel so dumb.

EDIT PART DEUX:

Yes, I'm stupid. I forgot - CTRL-Spacebar.

'Nother thing, does anyone know if BiG Project clashes with any super awesome good NPC mods? Because I know there's mods that aren't included in the BiG Project, and I'd like to fool around with such. Now, I know that with the WeiDu that clashing is now far more unlikely, but does anyone know of some good NPCs that DON'T clash with it? Other than Kelsey, my god that mage irritates me. I'd rather chill with that fake, watered down, whiney prat of an Annomen wannabe Alistair from Dragon Age than deal with Kelsey.

CTRL+TAB is for the BG1 engine. For the BG2 engine the console is activated with CTRL+SPACE.

Ahhhh! Okay, awesomesauce. I didn't remember that both had different commands. Thanks so much!
None of the webpages from Gibberlings 3 seem to work. Anyone find a zip file of all these essential mods?
Anybody else have trouble installing

BG1TOSCGameTextUpdate11
BG1FixPack11
BG1UB_v13
bgqe-8.1
BW_Herbs

they say I don't have an install? The path they check from is set/How do I make them look where I have it? Is there a less user friendly version with just a compressed folder with files i can drag and drop where they need to be manually with a text file of where to put them??

BG1TOSCGameTextUpdate11 is just a self extracting archive of dialog.tlk -- open it in WinRar/WinZip/7Zip and extract to you main install folder. Overwrite original dialog.tlk.

BG1 FixPack11 is also a self extracting archive. Extact to your BG1/Override/ folder.

The other 3 are WeiDU mods, and require you to extract them to your main BG1 folder and run the associated Setup-XXXXX.exe file. They cannot be simply extracted, because some wizardry needs to be applied.
:) thanks. I'm dumb lol

Having a bit of trouble downloading the degreenifier.exe, the page 404s for me. I've tried looking for other hosts but I've had no luck. Can anybody offer a hand?

Try this page:

Thorandor: Thought I'd do something nice for the community and provide a pack of all BG1+2 downloads. This is the same list of downloads as per OP, just in one (49MB) file.

I've put in hundreds of unpaid hours, probably thousands by now, modding these games. If you check any of my mods--I've authored one in your package, and contributed to four others in there--you'll notice that in return I only ask for two very small things. Care to guess what one of them might be?

Oh, I'm fully aware of one of them, and I have emailed the address you have under the contact page a month before I even put the pack together to ask if it was possible to host it. Secondly, I have uploaded full direct links to each of the mods within the original archives, but was asked to remove them from two modders who have written these fixes.

Since there were only 16 downloads in total I'll just take them down entirely and be done with it.

Jegriva: I cant' play because EasyTutu ask for the BG2 disc... which I don't have, since I bought the game here.
I had exactly th same issue when trying to launch the in game tutorial. It asked me to roll a character which I did, but when I tried to actually start it it asked me to insert a disk .Obviously I don;t have the disks to insert since this is the GOG release.

I retried going straight to the main game, i.,e., skipping the tutorial and that seems to work ( at least the game begins) but I'm a bit worried that it';ll ask for the game disk at some point and I'll be scuppered...

Did you patch the game?

Patch it? I used the GOG installers, thought they were already pre-patched?

There is a problem with the tutorial, because the GOG version creates an alias for 6 discs, and the original only came on 5 discs, so check your baldur.ini, and for the [Alias] section make sure there is not 6 CD entires. Let's assume that your BG2 is installed to C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\, then check the following...

This is WRONG:
[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\
CD1:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD2:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD3:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD4:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD5:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD6:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\

This is RIGHT:
[Alias]
HD0:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\
CD1:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD2:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD3:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD4:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\
CD5:=C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\data\;C:\Games\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate II\CD5\
