Hey All,
I'm using the BG: Trilogy with a number of mods installed and I'm having a bit of an issue. I'll get right down to it: I've installed BG: Trilogy using the instruction listed here: gog.com/forum/general/enhance_the_gameplay_in_your_edition_of_baldurs_gate_from_gog.com My issue is that my hard drive crapped out about two weeks ago and I have a backup of the folders themselves on an external hard drive but I have no sense of how to go about restoring my installation since I can't remember for the life of me which options I choose when I installed the mods and don't want to have my saves not work and what not. If anyone has any ideas on what I could do here I'd love you forever (I'd really rather not march through the first 20h of gameplay again X_X)

Provided you have the same mods installed in your new installation, just copy your 'Saves' folder from the backup to your new installation folder -- you don't need everything, just the saves. Be aware that if you use the widescreen mod, you MUST choose the same resolution as that used in the old saved games.
I guess my issue is that I don't know what mods I installed / what resolution I had it set in but I have all the files from my previous installation.

The mods you had installed, and the order in which they were installed, will be listed in your weidu.log, inside the backed up folder.

Regarding the widescreen mod, there is an option to convert save games when you install it, so use that.
Thanks so much, this is exactly what I was looking for. Have all my internet points Hick.
Did it work? How much hassle was it?

I'm in basically the same position. I don't remember what mods or resolutions I installed originally, but in the meantime i've upgraded from vista 32bit to windows 8 64bit. I have the original folders.

Does anyone know where the mods make changes? Is it the registry, the files, the save game or all three?
If I just install vanilla gog BG1 and then copy my old folders over the top - will that effectively install the mods as before?

Or do i need to actually install all the mods again and try and replicate the installation?

I'd like to finish the game, but I'm not sure it's great enough that i want to spend all day messing around trying to get mods right.

Yes.
Neither Baldurs Gate or the mods use the registry.
If you use the same path as before. ie C:\Games\BaldursGate or where ever you had it.
If you change the path, you will have to edit your baldur.ini to show the new path, under [Alias]

Many thanks. I will give it a try.
