Hello all. My question is rather simple. If you don't want to read much, just scroll down to the bold bit. It's the TL;DR version.

I recently started using Easytutu and found a few things which were different from the other BG2 conversion mod I used. Most of these are just a matter of playstyle and adjusting your tactics. For example, Xzar's dear companion now doesn't have a good chance with a range weapon for a start, meaning that he's good for melee only. That I can get used to.

Something I am struggling rather badly with however is an evil playthrough. It's easy enough to wander off the path anyway even in the base game, since so much as having Khalid or his wife in the party skews NPC responses. The Mayor will automatically pick them over Xzar/Monty every time. Admittedly I have only just gotten to Naskel this time but I have already found one ill omen. Weapon changes is more taste and can probably be fixed levelling up, but quests is another matter.

Silke's quest in Beregost was broken. I killed the men, being the heartless mercenary that I'm playing. Silke simply insisted she had already paid me, without XP nor coin given. No reptuation hit either, not even a sign of it in the quest log. I ended up having to kill her for my gold. Her bard companion also wanted to join me, which last I checked wasn't meant to happen. Suitably evil but I doubt being doublecrossed was the intended outcome.

Admittedly this is my first evil run with high charisma but I cannot help but think there was some conflict in my increased reward and the evil route in the quest. I know that the evil side always takes a back seat, but this has me doubting if Xzar's bosses will be making their necessary appearances and so on.

The first dream sequence is being remarkably slow coming, but if I end up with cure light wounds that's going to pretty much confirm my fears. I know some are based on character actions but the first one has always been based on alignment in my experience.

So I suppose my question to you folks is, has your modding ever compromised the evil side of the quests and so forth? I'm assuming there must be someone that has used EasyTutu and done an evil playthrough so they can tell me if it's all there or not.

I tried yesterday to play Baldur's Gate 1 vanilla and I'd really prefer not to go back to that, and a reinstall ect for another mod conversion is such a pain. If that's what I need to do though, better now than later when I'm further into it.

Also, any tips on not missing out on the 'dark side' of the story would be nice. I'm paranoid about missing the content, since occasionally it seems to come down to one conversation choice. It's hard to shake the well-spoken villain routine though and be rude to every NPC I meet. Is that really necessary?
Unfortunately, especially the first part of the series, does not have an "evil" path to follow. Which can be a blessing in disguise, if you think about KotOR for example, but that's besides the point.

You can be a CE psychopath, but the opportunities to show off your inner beauty is few and far between. You could feel free to kill a commoner or two that otherwise would have to put up with (to keep reputation down too), be a bit more of an ass to dialog responses etc, but in general you benefit more with a high reputation and good alignment.

Also good/evil are terms very open to interpretation that I find it futile to care for a clear distinction. I've seen people playing evul, saying that sending Khalid in his underwear to fight a bear (in order to get rid of him) or flooding the mines with Yeslick in, as a suiting behaviour of their character. To me that's "mind roleplaying" (filling the gaps of the story with details in your mind) and can be great if you like it. Just don't expect to see a whole different story for your badass CE assassin.

As for the specific examples you cite, there's no difference between BG1 and EasyTUTU plot. Silke's double crossing is intended and the bard offering to join is Garrick, one of the joinable NPCs of the game.

In general being a dick to NPCs is not necessary if it is not fun and it's necessary if it is fun. Just remember to fill the gaps mentally and don't worry about missing content. What you *might* miss is rather insignificant.

As for the Bhaalspawn powers you get, they depend on your reputation, so if you are too high for the evul ones, introduce the warm embrace of a fireball to a bystander or something.

yes but in the original as in BGT playthrough, he'll refuse to join you if you kill the men with the gems (possibly it's also rep based though - I've always had a low-ish rep by the time I've done that). Silke should also give you an xp reward as far as I recall
BG1 is not a good role playing game in the true sense of the word "role playing", since you are more or less forced to play a goody two shoes.
But if you insist of en evil playthrough, I strongly suggest using the BG1 NPC Project mod, and bringing Xzar and Montaron along.
And of course you will side with Edwin against Minsc and Dynaheir. If you also have Sword Coast Strategems installed, having Edwin in your party will give you one of the few advantages to playing Evil: avoiding one of the nastiest fights in the game and resolve the encounter peacefully instead.

You might be right, I don't know. I find Garrick very bland so I usually turn him down. And I would kill SIlke even with an evil character (mental roleplaying: "The bitch tried to manipulate me to be her lackey... Who the fuck she think she is? DEATH!"), so I don't remember the exact outcome.

As far as I know, Tutu and BGT change things only if there's no other way due to the engine transition. That was mainly my point above, it shouldn't affect Ninthshadow's playthrough.
