is it possible with BG 1 (and BG2), googling this only seems to give back dark alliance results.

me and my bro want to play through both BG games, but would really rather do it on the same computer, is it possible?

i also hear playing with only two players means you can have your other party members. any way around that too?

i want to find out before i make the purchase so i really hope you can help.

is BG2 different to BG1 in terms of its co-op? would i be best just going with that instead? (i would preferrably like to play both though)

hope you can help!!!

You need two separate copies on two separate computers to play multiplayer.

I'm not sure what you mean by "have your other party members." You each create one character for yourselves, but you can take the NPCs with you as well, and assign control of them to specific players.

BG1 and BG2 are the same in multiplayer, just BG2 seems to have a less laggy component. If you are willing to shell out for BG2 as well as 1, you can use the BG EasyTuTu mod to put BG1 in the BG2 engine.
