*Baldurs Gate Trilogy*

I just completed Baldurs Gate 1 in BGT and holy fish...the game is super awesome*. I am literally blown away by the type of game-play, a small tad bit of story and again....mainly in core mechanics of the game.

(commenting this from my perspective where I have completed; Dragon Age with around 9 replays, Mass Effect 2 around 7 times, Witcher 2 around 7 times...etc etc..)

I started up two characters,
1. Elven Ranger_Stalker Kit
2. Elven Ranger_Archer Kit
(Both courtesy of BG2 core kits!, with BGT)

I completed the game with the Ranger_Archer Kit character..and importantly leveled up Imoen only on a single class - Thief in Baldurs Gate. Which also reflected the changes in Shadows of Amn when the game continued seamlessly..

But when I started up a new game with an import or a generated character, then Imoen is dual classed to Thief/Mage.

So will continuing the game into Shadows of Amn with either;
a. Imoen only as thief, or
b. Imoen as the stock BG2 Thief/Mage dual class
has any repercussions or limitations in the game!.

Following is the team I had when I completed BG1 game:
1. Imoen
2. Khalid
3. Jaheira
4. Kivan
5. Faldorn

Following are the companions whome I picked up played a considerable amount of time, but left during the progression of the game:
6. Xzar (Recuited, dropped and left when I had to choose Viconia)
7. Montaron (left with Xzar!)
8. Viconia (Recruited , dropped and stayed on the map when I recruited Faldron)
9. Minsc (Recruited and dropped after Gnoll Fortress rescue)
10. Dynahei (left with Minsc)

The remaining, I only recruited to check on them but I didn't play considerable amount of time.

So except Imoen, how would other companions if present in BG2 affect from BG1 game.
i. Will my end game companions carry their level progression from BG1 to BG2!
ii. Will my other companions whome I recruited but left, carry their level progression from BG1 to BG2!
iii. Will other companions whome I didn't play much or never recruited, carry their stock BG1 level progressions to BG2!

Whether you keep Imoen as a Thief or a Thief/Mage doesn't make any difference, although story-wise it makes a bit more sense (IMO) if she's a Thief/Mage.

As for the other companions, there aren't that many from the first game that appear in BG2. Of the ones that do appear, I don't believe in the stock game that they reflect the changes/levelling you did in the first one. In fact some of them have completely different stats in the second game, if memory serves. But some of the mods do keep true to what you did with them, I believe (not sure if BGT is one of them).

Oh.. "-_-, my Imoen character is broken from RP perspective in BG2 then....Does anyone know if one can import stock BG2 Imoen character via Shadowkeeper, if its possible. (I came across this app while searching to reset only* her character! from my BG1 to BG2 transition in BGT save game).

Enabled all BG1 characters to have BG2 stats, atleast whats listed in the BG2 tweak pack and what options came up during its installation. It might have made my BG1 game a bit easy, but I wanted a steady progression....

Not at all. You'll see as the story progresses that it would just make slightly more sense if she were a Thief/Mage (in my opinion, of course). But she's certainly not broken as a pure Thief, and it really doesn't make much difference (if any at all). You can always dual class her in BG2 if you wish.

I'm not sure if you can change it in Shadowkeeper or not.

Oh kewl, time to continue BG2 from my BG1 transition then :) ..

I was able to rationalize the RP split by recognizing that there's some time in between. You could assume that Imoen ran into one of Gorion's old friends who taught her some of Gorion's art. She was interested, if only to remember Gorion with a few magic missiles.

Apparently, the developers set up Imoen to be a great Thief/Mage. Many people leveled her that way. I didn't -- nor did you. But they needed something to go with in BG2 and their choice is critical to the story.
