TrollumThinks: I could be wrong but I think the green protection scrolls require a certain minimum wisdom/int stat to use (can't check now - at work). There are still potions for some protection though.

bevinator: Green scrolls require 9 int to use. Well technically ALL scrolls require 9 int to use, but as a fighter only the green ones will be available anyway. There's no wisdom requirement.
Ah, ok - in that case Haloneya might want to drop a couple of points from Dexterity and add them to intelligence (and use the gauntlets of dexterity when you get them - I *think* it's fairly early on). ... unless you wanted to use the gauntlets of Ogre Power ... or even drop Charisma (prices might be higher but your gold is only spent on one character and you can sub on a ring or something that raises charisma for shopping time (but I'm not sure when you get that in the game))
The gauntlets of weapon specialization grant +1 to hit and +2 to damage so dumping dex for using the gauntlets of dexterity isn't a good idea.
For using scrolls there's still the option to drink int raising potions.
I have soloed BG1 with a Dwarven Berserker (without reloading) several times during the course of the No-Reload challenge, as reported on the old BG1 bioware forums (no longer available).

IMO this is one of the easiest characters that you can solo BG1 with. With Enrage they are immune to any disabling spells (charm, sleep, stun, hold, etc.) that an enemy mage, siren, ghast, or ghoul might throw at you. They thus make awesome caster killers. Being able to wear good armor and weild a shield, also makes them good tanks against ranged and melee enemies. So, basically, they can just charge in and decimate the opposition, with little fear. Their relatively high hit points also keeps them safe against the few traps that they must run through to complete the game.

I have tried to no-reload a berserker through BG2 on two separate occassions, but failed against improved Draconis/Abazigal (Ascension + SCS2) on both attempts. There has been at least one successful victory (not by me) of an unkitted fighter over improved Melissan (Ascension) on INSANE! But that took many, many reloads.

A plain un-kitted fighter is much more difficult in both BG1 and BG2, because they are vulnerable to a whole range of disabling spells, and must play more cautiously and reliantly upon potions and items for protection.
solo of game went fairly fast,, and quite easy when I got to lvl 6+,, a bit annoying that your limited to lvl 8,,, then going for random quests is a bit pointless

sarevok was quite easy to beat really,,, only loss 1 time, second time I just needed to lure him off a bit and take him down before his partners got to throw off too many attacks

hm,, kinda would like to solo a bit more,, but the cap of lvl 8 is annoying, maybe I should try look for some other kind of mods what changes such things
