I think it will take me forever to finish but I am really enjoying it. I really liked the original which i finished last year but I needed a break before starting BG 2.

Before BG 1, I hadn't played any "modern" RPGs, my RPG experience ending at Pool of Darkness. I like questing, those kind of clear cut quests didn't happen much when I played RPGs as a kid. I also enjoy the combat (it took me a little while to get used to).

I am a Fighter/Mage. I regret that decision a little because I am neither a good fighter nor a good mage, but I am kind of getting used to it. I seem to be drawn to evil characters (I guess they are more powerful?) but I like playing as a good guy.

My team is:

Me: Fighter/Mage
Korgan: Fighter
Fighter/Cleric guy whose name starts with an A
Asian Thief guy
Viconia: Cleric
Edwin: Mage

Basically, Korgan and the Fighter/Cleric are my tanks.

Me and Edwin sit back and cast spells, when I feel like it, I run in with my two single handed weapons.

Thief and Viconia do range damage, Viconia might throw out a heal or a spell every now and then.

I am in the sewers (Chapter 2). This morning before work I won a fairly big battle with a bunch of mercenaries who wanted 1000 gold from me. It took me several goes to do it (ended up spamming fireball). When I was done, I was looting corpses and the game crashed before I could save. Now I must try again. Sigh.

The game seems to be way more stable (playing on crossover) than BG 1, which is nice.

Anyone else playing it right now?
Anomen is the guy starting with A :P

I'm in Chapter 6 now (first playthrough) and nearly all sidequests done that I've found so I might actually be able to finish this game. It's huge. And then there's Throne of Bhaal in addition.

I played BG1 windows and now BG2 in Linux with wine, and I don't remember a single crash happening. But I see you're on Mac so don't know about that.
I'm picking away at a run through BG1 right now with a party consisting of 3 of my own characters, Imoen, Quayle, and Yeslick (I never use the latter two, so thought I'd try them out for this run). I'll likely run this party into BG2 as well, but it will be along time before I finish, as I only play it a bit at a time since I've got other games on the go too.

I didn't realise you could make more than 1 character...

Currently, BG2 is the only game I am playing, but life keeps getting in the way :(

That's him!

Chapter 6!!! Hopefully I will get there before the end of the year...

Are you romancing Viconia ?

My current team is:
Me: Cleric/Mage
Fade: Thief
Yasraena: Fighter
Tashia: Sorcerer
Jahiera: Fighter/Druid

Doing the Fade romance.

I am going to try. She seems pretty hot. But I don't have much luck with women so we'll see :)

I don't know most of the people in your team. Is that a mod?

It's 3 mods.

Start a multiplayer session, create as many characters as you want, save as soon as you can, quit the game, go to the game directory, move the multiplayer save to the singleplayer save folder and you're good to go. I would recommend not doing this on the first go, to make the most of party banter.

Not mods. As AlKim noted, I just did the multiplayer/single player game switch.

The Fighter/Mage is a bit rocky to start with, but at higher levels is basically a god. I played F/M in my most recent playthrough of the BG series and loved him. I was sword-and-shield rather than dual-wielding, but otherwise the principle is the same as your character.

Towards the end of Shadows of Amn, my character could basically solo most fights. With the right spells, he could basically render himself impervious to attack and just beat the crap out of anything. My SoA party was Keldorn, Aerie, Imoen, and Jan. I kept an empty slot open in my party for after I reached Throne of Bhaal.

They are; the four evil NPC's are also the most powerful NPC's. Yes, I said four ;-)

But he wasn't quoting your reply.
So yes, Yasraena, Fade, & Tashia are 3 mods.
The trouble with creating your own party, as AIKim said, is you miss out on party banters (& extra quests.)

Oops. You're right, of course. The two posts were one after the other and I read through them all at once and got my old brain confused. :P

Yep. PC Blade, with Aerie, Nalia, Xan [mod] and Isra [mod].

I've done everything I want to do before leaving for Spellhold, and am 20th lvl. That's probably enough for this run, so I'll probably start again as a Stalker with a different mix of NPCs.

Once my character level gets into the high teens, I begin to lose interest...
Yay, I completed it. Now I'll see if I can get in the story of ToB. Sometimes addons and expansion packs feel so completely stupid storywise after the main game that I'm not at all certain I'll play through it.
