If the game is in a certain location, it can affect how the game works. Granted, given that it is in the same location as your other games, that might not be the case, but it might be that they aren't affected for some reason (computers are weird about things like that). If nothing else, you can try doing what Tallamia mentioned and run the game in compatibility mode.

Random_Coffee: I had a problem with the CD-version of Baldur's Gate 1 as well. Got the error message saying that it will only run on English operating systems.

If that is the problem, you could try this: http://www.gog.com/forum/baldurs_gate_series/playing_solo_through_bg/post17
You might want to try patching the game to the latest patch. I had a similar issue with the BG2 expansion (which said it would only work in North America...) until I eventually found out that I should do that.

Where you can get the patch then?

Here. If you want to find the patches for something else, google will generally find them for you if you search "[game name] patch".

Sarcastic reply aside, its kinda hard to tell which sites are safe sometimes :P Like finding patch for Vampire the masquerade bloodlines that doesn't add new content by modders, the original source for other of two most popular patches is on really NSFW site

Sorry, that wasn't actually intended to be sarcastic. The younger me who originally tried to play BG didn't actually realise you could find the patches online, and I wanted to make sure you did!

Just FYI, Sorcerer's Place is a safe place, and contains content for a lot of older RPGs.

Ah, ok, thank you then :)

Edit: Oops, realized that I probably should have checked first whether its the patch or compatibility mode that might fix my problem ^_^; Ah well, I'm busy with school anyway so not going to have much of chance to test it out yet... I'll be posting in this thread again if neither patch nor compatibility mode fixes my problem, hopefully people will notice it despite thread being marked as solved...
