Folks, I know that many GOG games have been tweaked to run better on modern machines and modern operating systems.

Are the Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale games among them, or are are the GOG versions of those the same as those you can get elsewhere?

The main reason I ask is that Impulse has them and Neverwinter Nights on sale, to the point that it's a noticeable price difference.

The most important aspect of my question is, will the GOG versions run better on my Win7 x64 laptop than the Impulse or Amazon DVD versions?

Thanks in advance for the help.

Take advantage of Impulse's sale of these games if you want to. Both GoG and Impulse are selling them DRM-free, but w/the GoG versions, you'll get access to the game soundtracks, artworks and things like that. Impulse doesn't say that they're giving the same thing.

As for the techinical information, I'm not sure if I can help. I don't see any reason why either the GoG or Impulse versions won't work w/Windows7.

Question: Is Impulse DRM free like gog? Where you get the setup file, you don't have to use some programs integrated setup/be online to play/whatever? Could I download my game, put it on a disc so I don't have to have the setup downloaded all the time, and then just install it whenever I want to play it?
Impulse sells nothing absolutely DRM free. You must install the Impulse client in order to DL and activate your games. You don't have to run the client after the install though. But GOG is the only truly DRM free digital solution for the IE games.

They're also listed as XP/Vista/7 compatible.
