Greetings dudes of GOG!

First of all I wanna say I'm new to this site, and everything that is D&D. However I LOVE rpg's
And everyone keeps tells me that I HAVE to try Baldur's Gate I & II. And I really want to, but at the same time, I'm kinda "scared"

I'm no the best of gamers, and even struggeled with Dragon Age: Origins, finding myself reducing the difficulty from normal to easy at almost every boss encounter. And I have heard Baldur's Gate can be quite a challange.

So my question is, should I just turn around and never look back? Or just give it a try?
Give it a shot! Start with BG2 - you'll start at a higher level, so you'll be less likely to die to the random number gods. Once you've got some experience (and you know if you like the game), you can get the first one.
Keep in mind that BG2 includes HUGE spoilers for BG1 right from the beginning (even in the intro movie). Still, BG2 is easier to get into.

If you start with BG1, it's not really all that hard to play either. The only thing to keep in mind early in game is that you're no match to most enemies you'll meet early on. You should run from or avoid combat until you have a decent party size of at least 4 people. At that point the game becomes pretty manageable.

Also, you should be prepared to reload a couple of times. This is a challenging game and being forced to reload is not a sign of failure.

Other than that I say you should definitely play these games, they're just as awesome as you've heard.

The key to survival in BG1 is to use Stealth to scout an area, and then pick your battles.
Some battles can't be avoided, though. Then it's important to have already selected Auto-Pause: Enemy Sighted.

Baldur's Gate isn't too hard. You can save and reload as often as you want and pause the game for thinking and assigning commands as often and as long as you want.

You'll be able to beat the game, there are a some unbalanced situations but you can handle them even as beginner and you can get help here or elsewhere if you happen to get stuck.
I recommend starting with BG1, it's less complicated and the pace is slower, a level 1 character in the beginning can die fast if enemies get very lucky rolls but using save and reload isn't difficult, I don't think you'll have to do it very often.
No way would I recommend playing BG2 first. I thought BG1 (pre-Tutu) did a really nice job of easing you into the setting and game world. Although you are going to die a bit early on (less so if you pick a fighter type), you should consider death a learning experience, to improve your tactics. Whereas if you start with BG2, not only do you get ridiculous plot spoilers for BG1, you could end up getting overwhelmed by it without the experience of the first game to back you up. (I know I did, even having played BG1 first!- BG2 has a lot more stuff going on)

Both games have a difficulty slider you can use, too. I've used it myself, but should only be used on occasion of tough battles. (On lower settings you get less XP per kill, which makes your character weaker in the long run). And I suppose graphically it would be a step down from DA:O, but everything else is CRPG heaven. :)
