I finished Baldur's Gate using Baldur's Gate Tutu. Now I want to play Baldur's Gate II, importing my character.

The problem is, I can't find the Save game folder.

BaldursGateTutu is in C: > Program File (x86) > Games > BaldursGateTutu

There is no Save folder there.

I started the program and opened up my last saved game (all the saved games are still there when I run BaldursGateTutu). I tried exporting my character. Then when I log out and look in the directory, the character isn't in the characters directory. But if I run BaldursGateTutu to import the character, it is available.

I tried using Search in Windows 7 to find the folder or files. I searched for Save. No folder shows up. (In fact, the Save folder in the BGII folder doesn't show up either, though it's clearly there when I look in the folder.) I have searched for final (since final is in the final game save name), I have searched for the character name which I used on the character export and all over the games I saved while playing. Nothing comes up.

The folders and files are obviously somewhere. How do I find them?

If you installed the game to default location (Program Files) and have UAC enabled, your saves are probably here:

C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files (x86)\GOG.com\Baldurs Gate

You have to enable hidden files in folder options to see it or just type the path directly in Explorer.

Edit: To avoid the hassle, next time install the game somewhere outside Program Files, which is a protected directory in Vista/Win7
