I'm playing BG2 with the widescreen mod and the visible area around my party seems quite small. Most of my screen is covered in that black shroud or fog. I don't mean that completely black fog of war, as I can see the buildings but not any non-party characters.

Is there any way to make this visible area larger? I don't have any intention to cheat, but it would be nice if the party could see further than just few meters down the road.

Last I was aware, field of view was generally a hardcoded effect - nothing there to mod. I remember a discussion on G3 about tweaking infravision to provide increased sight distances (i.e. make the spell actually useful) but was abandoned early on because could not be implemented due to hardcode.
That's too bad.

But thanks for your answer anyway. At least I know I probably shouldn't spend time looking for a solution.
