The Mac installer for the German version contained the Russian files.

How do you even tell that your game installer is updated? I'm new to Gog pretty much. I'm using the client It's currently at 2.0.0.20

The website gives an alert that a game you own is updated, in the "my account" button. It looks similar to the one telling you you have unread replies, which is probably how you're reading this :P

Your game library then tells you what games have been updated, and if you're interested you can click through the different download options to see which have been changed (as, again, those which have changed will say so when you look at them).

gog shows a red number on your account if there is something new, it then appears on a drop down on either my games category or community. on my games i can click "new and updated" to show updated games. although once i do it doesn't tell me if the file was updated or the extras.

To see what has gotten updated (assuming you are like me and are an English speaking Windows User) click on the 'Mac' tab and then change the version to German. It's annoying, but I'm starting to get in the habit of flipping through all the different version of the install file(s) whenever what got updated isn't immediately obvious.
I was also wondering how to get the update icon to go away. I was hoping it was a bigger kind of update :D

I bet for German Mac OS gamers it IS a big update ;)
Good to know.
I can always trust the forums for answers on updates.

I don't have my downloaded installers handy to compare differences.
Not that it matters much, since I'm on Windows.

But a changelog would be useful.
Especially, considering I won't have unlimited internet forever and downloading an update that has no relevance to me, is wasteful monthly data usage.
Not to knock those who need the updates, but I'm just saying, I'd have downloaded everything all over again only to find out it wasn't an update for me.

I totally agree with you.
