It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).

Every so often wineskin will crash (displaying the "BGMain2.exe has encountered a serious problem and has to close." message) at seemingly random times. At first I thought it was only at the start of combat but it seems to happen at rather random times, though always at the start, during, or at the end of combat.

Now I won't pretend to understand the garble that the wine logs display in the details, but I thought at first that it was an issue with permissions, so I repaired disk permissions in Disk Utility and I made sure to apply Read & Write permissions to everything in the game folder, but that still doesn't seem to have done anything.

I'm running it without any mods except some custom portraits. I had installed the widescreen mod previously, but I uninstalled it and the save files weren't touched at all or were made after the uninstallation.

Anywho, while not gamebreaking per se, it is rather irritating as they are rather frequent. Anywhere from 10 minutes to an hour into a session. Any help anyone could provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

What do you mean by this? Are you suggesting that not a single save was made after the installation of the widescreen mod? Because if you did make a save, your files most definitely were affected... permanently.

Yeah I do mean I didn't make a single save with the widescreen mod installed. It's a little weird, but here's my explanation.

I really do not like HD patches for old games except in very specific cases like strategy games where terrain details and UI buttons aren't critical. What I was hoping to do was get a resolution slightly larger than 800x600 but not full blown microscopic-button-HD. Unfortunately I totally forgot about wine and how it doesn't allow graphics stretching like that. Soo basically I installed it, got to the main menu, then was all "Ahhhh, screw it" and uninstalled it.

So while I did install it, I didn't do enough to alter any save files, I put "no" during the buggy "update save files" bit in the installer, etc. Nor did I load a save file.

Ok, then that rules that one out -- widescreen mod is a common crash vector, so it was important to know. Unfortunately, I know nothing about Mac or Wineskin, but hopefully somebody who does will pipe in. Good luck.
I am bumping this, as I seem to have the exact same problem. I opened up a topic about it here (before I found this thread):

I haven't installed any mods either. For me the crashes occur outside of battle too, but they do seem to be more frequent around enemies.

It would be great if someone could find a solution to this.
