So right now I have a problem that's effecting not only my copy of Baldur's Gate 1 but Icewind Dale 1 as well. I'm sure I'm gonna run into the same problem with any game that runs on the infinity engine.

The game seems to run fine. However, when I get to either the biography or name sections, the computer vomits out a one or two letters repeatedly. If i try to delete the gibberish, its automatically replaced by another letter. Its not a game breaking bug, but its really annoying and immersion breaking being forced to play as the legendary adventurer named "pnpnpnpnpnpnpnpnpnpppppppppp"

I've already done the for dummies trouble shooting: restart the game, restart the computer, uninstall and delete everything and then replace it with a fresh install while running everything as administrator, etc. Sofar nothing has reliably worked at all. At most I can play the game for one and two sessions then its back to square one.
Have you tried rebooting, and then run a virus/malware scan?

Did that. My computer's clean too.
When you say your computer's clean, are you just assuming? Running a full system scan with up to date virus databases should never be overlooked.

You could also check your keyboard for sticky keys, or any software that intercepts key presses.
