Hello everybody!
I have a serious problem with "Baldur's Gate: The Original Saga". After a successful installation, I double clic on the desktop icon and the title screen appears. The "configure" button (bottom right) works fine; but, when I press "play", the game does not start and I receive an error message.

An Assertion failed in D:\Dev\chitin\ChVideo.cpp at line number 4256
Programmer says: No valid video modes supported.

All this happens after a big problem with my PC, that forced me to re-install Windows 8.1 and replace the hard disk. Before that, it used to run smootlhy. I do not have the Enhanced Edition and I have not installed any mod.

Can anybody here lend me a hand? I would gladly be back adventuring in Faerun.

Someone else just asked this last week.

The best course of action would be to backup your saved games.
Then uninstall the game and DELETE the folder you installed it.
Install the game again and put back your saved games.

That should work. You can also install Galaxy and make it repair the game but there is no guarantee on that. It didnt work for me :)

Luckyly, I have no saved games, since I had just reinstalled the game. I am going to try this one.
