I downloaded the original Baldur's Gate Saga for my Windows 10, and while original BG2 runs fine. BG1 won't even show the intro screens, as soon as I load it up, it's just black and nothing happens, I couldn't find a solution on the forums out of everything I've tried.

Thanks for the help.

And you won't get any help either. This forum is infested with Steam users who are more about trolling and irrelevant opinions that have nothing to do with the game, then any actual help. I've been trying to get answers to things about this game for at least 3 years and am still waiting.

A ton of people on this forum claim they know so much about this game, yet not a single person has answers a single thing about it when asked.

You don't get any error message? You can try going here and getting dx9c and installing it: https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?displaylang=en&id=35

Are you using Galaxy 2.0? I tried that today, and games just wouldn't launch. I went back to the old Galaxy client and things are fine so far.

tx3000: Fuck off yourself I asked nicely plenty of times and all you fucking rejects do is flood the topics I make with pure bullshit.

Proof of this is going into the topics I create and see your name and others and look at the replies you left..Also don't bother trying to say my topics are rude because they only turned that way after you retards flooded every topic with the same troll bullshit you said to me in here.

So get the fuck out of here with ask nicely as if that5 means anything.
Now you're infesting other people's posts with your imbecile attempts of self promotion? Get the hell out of here

have you enabled DirectPlay ? its a legacy feature of Windows 10

EDIT : to enable it you need to go to Control Panel >> Programs >> Turn Windows features on or off => search for the box 'Legacy Components' and in there you'll find 'DirectPlay'

1st. This is a 2 weeks old topic, there is a good chance that the OP moved on at that point. In the event that s/he comes back, here are my suggestions:

1. Try to run the game in window mode. If that works, it is probably gonna be tiny. You can solve that by using the wide-screen mod, almost :)

2. Enable DirectPlay as previously suggested.

3. If you are using Galaxy, try to run the game without it.

4. After opening the game, run the task manager and see if you see BG running as an application. If my memory serves me right, sometimes pressing ALT+TAB a few times shifts back to run the game normally. Not sure about that but worth a try.
Just bought GOG Baldur's Gate enchanced. Installed it . The infinity engine keeps crashing. I'm using an HP Omen with windows 10 Why do I have to play this on line. Why can I not just downlaod install and play. I have been able to do it before. With other computers.

Are you talking about installing and playing through Galaxy? If so, you can use either of the two methods of offline installation. You can get to one of them by clicking "DOWNLOAD OFFLINE BACKUP GAME INSTALLERS" on your game page. This uses a straight http download that anybody with a browser can use.

Otherwise you can click "More" and "GOG Downloader Links" to get to the other method. For this to work you need to install the GOG downloader client first (it does nothing but downloads).

If that's not what you are talking about then sorry for wasting your time!
Another option would be to run the Baulders Gate 1&2 complete saga patch. Only works for the original version (not enhanced) but basically it mods Baulders Gate 2 to add the assets and story from 1 to it and lets you play both games, as one continual story, in the second game's engine. Honestly, screw the enhanced editions, thats the definitive way to play Baulders Gate.
