I downloaded and installed BG2 from GOG. it opens the configuration thing for the first time you play the game, and once I click "OK" it closes the window... and nothing! No game launches at all. Anyone else had this problem, or know of a fix? I tried looking through the support and the stickies but I couldn't find any problems like that

I am running it on windows 7 64 bit

Is it installed in the Program Files (x86) folder? I've heard that Win 7 has issues with games installed there, so maybe try reinstalling it in a different location?
I actually put it onto a different partition entirely
What was gog thinking when they made this update? Ive seen a topic for almost nearly every infinity engine game forum made something like this. I found my game cds for bg1 2 days ago and I have been playing that instead. Very disheartening that both gog and bg enhanced edition don't work.
Hmm, well I got my original game disks around here somewhere, but I was hoping to be able to play it without swapping a bunch of disks
So to be clear, nothing happens when you run bgmain.exe? (The config and game are two separate apps). If so, you should probably submit a support ticket to GOG.

I submitted 2 support tickets, gog didnt answer either of them.

Shot in the dark here, but is your monitor capable of the default lower resolution in BG2? This question goes to deathknight1728 as well, of course I pose this question under the assumption you haven't tried the widescreen mod.
See if starting baldursgate spawns rundll32.exe(set options to show commandline in task manager if needed) with task manager. If so with resmon tool suspend the rundll32.exe corresponding to baldur.exe. kill baldur.exe and run it again. This is a known problem in windows 7 with many games due to game explorer if behind firewall.
I honestly just went with the cds for bg1. Tutu really gives very little and the beregost crash at act2 more than speaks for itself.

The infinity engine games dont install anymore from gog on pcs and neither does enhanced edition. Its a damn good thing my pc still has icewind dale 1 installed on an old installation.
