As the title says - and if so, are there plans to buy the entire trilogy as a bundle?

What do you mean by trilogy? Is the BG2 expansion considered to be the 3rd game?
I suspect BG2 is coming soon. I don't see any reason why it wouldn't, the only question is when. Gog will probably release a couple other Atari/Hasbro titles first I suspect.

yeah, would be convenient. I expect it to be something else though, if only for pr reasons. Releasing the sequel to the game you released the week before is less exciting than releasing a different high profile game (and we can be pretty sure they have other high profile games to release).
Though if they do two releases this week, BG2 seems more likely again.

True enough. I'm betting on Planescape this week and BG2 next week, or both this week then.

I do, personally - even though it's an expansion, it feels like a whole different game to me, plus 'trilogy' just sounds better for an epic series like this. As for if BG2 is slated for release, it hasn't been confirmed either way. A lot of people in the contest are guessing it's the next one, though, including myself.

Of course it will. Why wouldn't you release one of the greatest CRPGs of all time if you have the license to do so? But I think GOG knows well enough not to start a show with a showstopper. I'm guessing that some other D&D game with get its day in the sun first. That might be another Infinity Engine game, or maybe something earlier like the Gold Box series or Eye of the Beholder.

If it's not Temple of Elemental Evil (which I haven't played and would love to try) I hope they do Icewind Dale. It always falls through the cracks imo, with Baldur's Gate and Planescape getting all the love. I only played IWD in the past 3 years and LOVED the hell out of it. It had the raw feeling I hadn't had since Baldur's Gate 1. It was a real epic adventure.

In fact, if GoG releases it, it will be the first game in their catalog that I'll buy despite owning the disk (I used to own BG but gave it away, so it doesn't count).

The only thing I didn't like about the Icewind Dale games was the fact that you made your whole party yourself. A lot of what I loved about BG1/2 and Planescape Torment was the way the characters interacted with the world around them - they'd talk to you, have conversations and arguments with each other to the point where they'd try and KILL each other, interject in your conversations with others..... In IWD and IWD2, I get a group of empty shells who do nothing more than obey my orders. I might as well be playing with robots - no, wait, scratch that. HK-47 rocked. I just can't get into the game as much.

I think you are on to something, Shadowsetzer, but I have a slightly different take. While I played Icewind Dale (w/ Heart of Winter), I have never really had an urge to replay it the same way as for the BG series. Since the engines are the same, it just has to be the story; for me the story in the BGs beats IWD, hands down.

I think that is a big reason that I want to play through IWD2. I have nothing against party games in general, so maybe it was just the IWD story that left me less than sated. The first** RPG games I played were the original TSR Gold Box games ( Pool of Radiance, Curse of the Azure Bonds, Secret of the Silver Blades, and Pools of Darkness), and I liked those party-based games fine (even replayed the first two a year or so ago).

**I played some Wizardry and Ultima games before playing the Gold Box games, but those all run together in my head. Regardless, the Wizardry games were all (or mostly) party based, as well.

There are fan-made talkative party members for both IWD1 and IWD2. Google respectively for IWD1NPC and IWD2NPC.
