Okay so I just discovered a bug with Yeslick the Dwarven Cleric.

I found him in the Cloakwood mines and, since I had been having trouble with Jaheira decided I'd take Yeslick and drop her. Unfortunately she took my best fighter with her.

I decided I didn't want to venture further into the mines without some more firepower so went back out and recruited Kivan.

Unfortunately now, when I get back to the Cloakwood mine Yeslick pops up to say "Bang some heads for me" and leaves the party. Then, more or less immediately, pops up to ask to join the party. If I say yes, 250 milliseconds later he leaves again, if I say no, 250 milliseconds later he asks to join again.

Over and over and over and over and over and over and over again.

I can, with some timing, hit the save icon and quit and or reload.

Now I realise this must be related to some timer about his insistence on flooding the mine. But I seem to be stuck.

I have enabled the Cheat Mode and am hoping there is some way in the console to reset whatever flag is being checked when we set foot in the mines section.

Can anyone help me with that?

Thanks.

Matt

Do you have any mods installed? That particular bug should be fixed in one of the fixpacks.
Anyway, you can use console to modify variables but not timers. I think Yeslick's quest used the global timer so console won't help you here :(

But if you'd like, send me your save (either drop me a PM or host it somewhere like MediaFire) and I can have a look through globals.

Unless in the meantime someone will chime in with a working solution :)

I followed the conservative modders guide. I definitely have:

* Widescreen mod
* GUI mod

I think I have:

* Baldurdash bugfixes & text update
* Unfinished business

I'm not sure about:

* BG1 Tweak Pack, I might have downloaded it but I don't think I applied any of them.

I'm pretty sure I don't have:

* Mini Quests & Adventures
* Herbs & Potions
* Any of the "optional mods"

If the fix is in something I didn't install yet is it possible to install it now and keep my game? Or will it mess things up so that I'd have to restart (that wouldn't be an attractive option at this point).

Thanks.

Matt

p.s. PM'ing you my save.

I tried changing Yeslick main variable, no effect. If you change FLOODED to 1 the dialog loop stops, but that may break something later in the game. But I think I found safer solution.

Here's MediaFire link.

Put your save back to 'save' folder and .BCS file to 'Override'.

What I did: I removed 2 lines from Yeslick's script that triggered party leave if the mines aren't flooded in time. (.BCS file) and changed his CRE file within your save to use updated script.

It appears to work on my side, but let me know if it isn't working for you.
Hi Thiev.

Put your save back to 'save' folder and .BCS file to 'Override'.
That seems to have done the trick. Very kind of you to sort it out for me, thank you :)

Can I ask what application you used to edit the save? And/or scripts?

So I tried running this to have a look myself. I opened the BALDUR.SAV file and it displays the contents with a "Decompress" button. But I get an error.

I wondered if this might be some Windows permissions thing (by nature I am a Mac User these days) so copied the save folder to the desktop, same problem.

Any ideas?

It's not a big deal if not, i'm just curious and like to tinker.

First of all, the changes to characters are made by editing .GAM file, not .SAV. In .SAV, the state of all areas you entered is stored, but party info and variables are in .GAM

Now, moving one folder to desktop won't change anything as Near Infinity reads everything from BG root directory. Try either running NI as administrator or turn off User Account Control to see if that's the culprit here.

Instead of manually opening single files, use the folder tabs on the left panel in NI.

Thanks Thiev, will give that a go.

Running NI as Administrator solved one issue I had with it, probably just editing the right file will solve the other :)
