This is pretty disappointing. I emailed Jeff and Spiderweb about when and if these games were coming to GOG. This was their reply:

"Gog.com isn't interested in those two games, but they'll hopefully want our new games in the future. Sorry!"

Really GOG? You have all their other games. And it can't be about quality, since Nethergate Resurrection and Avernum:EftP are both a step up technically from Avernum 1-3, which you sell.

At least i bought them when the Humble Weekly sale was going on. And i have them on Steam as well. Still, i'd rather have them on GOG. Hope GOG reconsiders and contacts them :(. Oh well...

Well that is a shame :( Like you, I picked them up in Humble Weekly sale (thankfully!) so I could play them until the GOG versions arrived. I wonder why GOG isn't interested in those two, especially like you say, they already carry the rest of Spiderweb's catalogue. I'm wondering if this bodes well for other indie produced titles of the same ilk such as 'Eschalon Book 3' when it's released?

This is a shame. I haven't played Avernum: Escape From the Pit yet, but Nethergate: Resurrection is a quality title that would definitely fit in the GOG catalog.

The only reason I can think of is that GOG would prefer to sell these games in packs, since it's currently offering the Avernum and Geneforge games bundled. Nethergate and Avernum: Escape From the Pit are currently standalone titles so maybe that's why GOG isn't interested? But then again, GOG is selling Avadon by itself. Strange.
One possible (and simple) explanation is that Spiderweb titles just haven't sold very well on GOG. As such, further Spiderweb titles may not be a priority for GOG.

Another possibility is that Spiderweb isn't telling the whole story. Perhaps the cut/royalties they want on those two titles is higher than what GOG is willing to pay out.

Or GOG could just be making an unfortunate decision in this case. :^(
Argh, dammit GOG. Though you are probably right in that we don't have the full story. GOG has had a very strange acceptance policy as of late though.
Vote them on wishlist. Maybe GOG will reconsider eventually.

Dont forget to vote for Exile series (available free from Spiderweb Software's home page. Just remember Exile 1-3 are 16-bit applications and won't work on 64-bit operating systems.):

Bump to raise awareness. Let's make GOG reconsider!
Escape From the Pit would be fantastic on GoG.

But I already voted for everything! :O
I voted as well. And - like the rest of you - I am surprised by gog that they aren't interested.
I would also like to see Nethergate Resurrection and Avernum:EftP on GOG. Would buy ´em in an instant.
I have those titles on my Steam account, and I think they should be available on GOG for sure.
What is the official word from GOG about this? Can we get a reconsideration? Can we get a staff member to put something on the record?
At this point there's no point, steam and humble and spiderweb itself have gobbled the possible sales for this game.

GOG could've had a cut of the pie, but they decided not to for unspecified reasons and now there's not much left now. Pointless waste.

While I agree that best sales are over due to Steam, Humble and other sales, that hardly means games lack sales potential. There are still plenty of people who haven't even heard about Spiderweb or it's games not to mention people becoming old enough to be able to enjoy them as time goes by. There is also the problem that above also means that Avernum 2: The Crystal souls and Avernum 3: Ruined World may not be coming to GOG either in future which would be lose both to GOG.com and it's userbase.

I have to join everyone here who's disappointed in GOG's apparent decision not to carry A:EFTP. (I did vote for it to be added as well, but I'm not holding my breath.) I hadn't realized someone had also emailed Jeff Vogel last year about this (see the OP), but here's the entire response he sent me yesterday about GOG's reason for not carrying A:EFTP:

"Basically, since they were already selling the entire old Avernum saga and nobody else was, they decided to stick with that instead of the new versions."

Again: color me very disappointed.
