I've only played for a few minutes but I'm having fun. It reminds me of a pen and paper RPG that someone created a simple graphic interface for. You use your imagination to fill out the world you're in. I keep thinking of Temple of Apshai I had for my C64 way back when. Y ou'd enter a numbered room and read the description in the manual. Also, the art in the game (for the stats and skills) reminds me a lot of Phil Foglio. Loved him in Dragon magazine.

Exactly. I love them too because of that thing. I read the character and places descriptions and my imagination does the rest. It's a very cool experience, like reading a good book, or participating in pen and paper RPG session, just like you've said.
One of the things I always liked about these games was just what you guys are saying. You use your imagination to visualize the experience. Since Avadon is alone, here's to hoping that that game is on here next.

Temple of Apahai games? if that is the game you meant I doubt it, the game was produced by Epyx who went out of business ages ago and I believe the people who now own the Commodore company also bought the rights to Epyx's old games.
I think he was speaking about the CRPG by Spiderweb called Avadon. I was speaking of Temple of Apshai, a game I had many years ago made by Epyx as you said. Two completely different things.

That's because it was Mr. Foglio who did the character portraits, though I'm not sure if he's contributing art to the newest Spiderweb Software games.
I was pretty sure it was him. He has a certain style. Didn't notice it in Geneforge however.

I loved Phil Foglio's cartoonish but expressive artwork on DC Comics' Stanley and His Monster 4 issue miniseries from 1993. It poked a lot of fun at the rest of the DCU and at pop culture in general.
