Hi all,

We have updated Mac version of Avernum The Complete Saga as there was a script error that prevented users from saving their settings for Avernum 4-6. Please download the new Mac installer (avernum_the_complete_saga_1.0.0.9.dmg) at your earliest convenience.

Thanks and have a nice day :)
Crikey! How come the Mac installer is six times as large as the one for Windows?
Thanks for the update!

Avernum 1-3 in the Saga pack are "Wineskinned" versions rather than native OS X (which is kind of odd considering that the Spiderweb games all started out on the Mac platform, but I suppose there's some logical reason); the Wine stuff adds a couple hundred MB for each, none of which is needed for the Windows version.

The first three games were made for PowerPC Macs and never made universal, to my knowledge :)

Thanks for the answer. :)

Out of curiosity, now that GOG has released Superfrog HD, will GOG consider the Avernum remakes as well? From what I have heard they are streamlined versions of the original trilogy, with updated graphics, but more importantly updated quest logging.

Last I heard, the GOG was actually against releasing them here. Same with Nethergate.

I rally don't get why with Nethergate. o.O

I know they rejected them, I just really hope they reconsider their goofy decision.

That is odd - any reason (you know of) as to why?

Here you'll find reply Point_Man got from Jeff.

Only reason I can think of is that Nethergate Resurrection has been in number of bundles and for sale as low as 1$/€ on steam numerous times As for Avernum:EftP, iirc, GOG is the only store selling the whole original Avernum series (others only offer the second trilogy, avernum 4 to 6) outside of Spiderwebs' own store so they see no need to offer the remake. GOG may also feel that there is not much interest for the remakes among GOGer's (it wouldn't be the first time for GOG to reject games due to that).

Neither good nor logical reasons imho, but that's just me. I would rebuy them from GOG if offered here but only on steep discount as I own them elsewhere. I would, however, prefer to buy Avernum 2: The Crystal Souls and Avernum 3: Ruined World from here rather than elsewhere but I guess I have to if GOG doesn't change it's stance before release.

You can vote for missing SW games but I don't think it'll have much sway unless we suddenly get hunderds of more votes to push them at least to top 100 most wanted games list.
