Hi all,
I've been playing this game for a few days, but I'm encountering a problem. Every so often, in certain areas of a dungeon, the screen shows mostly grey, and the camera/movement freezes. I can still hear the game sounds, and I can still "move" blindly. After a few seconds or a few steps away from a spot, the game goes back to normal.
Any thoughts on why this is happening?
Specs:
I am running Windows 7 RC build 7100, so yes I know this isn't supported. Intel Core i7, NVidia GTX 280 and 6 GB of RAM.
I've tried running it in compatibility mode as Windows XP, and running it as administrator.

I have had no problems playing Arx on the Windows 7 RC (without needing any compatibility settings or anything). Hmmm.
Try updating DirectX using the DirectX End-User Runtime Web Installer, which will ensure you have the latest optional compatibility files; if it gives you an error message, download the complete DirectX End-User Runtimes. You should also update your video card drivers to an official version if you haven't already; the ones offered on Windows Update will work but aren't always ideal for gaming.
You could also try reinstalling the game.
If it happens only in dungeon you could try another thing:
Open cfg.ini file, find 'softfog=0' line and change it to 1.
Thanks for the replies. Arkose, all my drivers are updated, but I will give the DirectX files a go.
Thiev, I've tried changing that setting, and though I like that it removes all fog (which I intend to keep that way), I still have the freezes. Attached is a screenshot of what it looks like.
Any more ideas and suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
BTW, I run the game at highest graphical settings. Antialiasing included. I'll try turning that down/off.
Update: I figured out what's causing the problem. As soon as I unchecked "Bump mapping" in the video settings, the grey screen/freezes went away. Is there a way to fix this? I'd like to play the game with bump mapping enabled. For now, I'll just continue without it.
Thanks!

Do you have problems with bump mapping in any other game?

Nope, definitely don't. I play a wide array of games on my PC, and parallax textures and bump mapping are always enabled if available with no issues.
Perhaps someone can give me some specific NVidia control panel settings for Arx Fatalis?
