Just noticed that Arx Libertatis 1.0 RC1 has been released and there are builds for both 32-bit and 64-bit Windows. Other platforms still need to build from source. Anyone having issues with previous release or original Arx should try it out.

Hopefully we'll see 1.0 release soon.

Aaaand it doesn't work for me, at all this time (the x86 version that is) :-(. Unlike with previous release, the exe you canl download is an installer this time around and installs alternate version of arx and copies files over from original game folder so that might be where mine failed. I may need to reinstall arx later to see if that helps.

I had to copy files from the Arx Fatalis folder to the Arx Libertatis one, skipping existing files. After that it works perfectly. I'm not sure what files are missing (I copied the whole lot over for now), but the end result is a working game. :)

Figured it was something like that (result of applying unofficial patch or previous version were other suspects). Have to reinstall Arx and Libertatis again during the weekend.
Wow, I am so looking forward to this project coming to full fruition. Awesome to see that it's coming along nicely. :D
Hmm, is this the entire source code or some kind of unofficial patch or mod that one adds to the original game (for example, the GOG version)?

This is a source port that copies files over from your Arx Fatalis folder during installation, so you need to have the original game. The current RC version misses some files so you'll need to copy them over manually after installing. The next RC version will fix this.

I wonder if one can extract the game files from the Xbox disc and use those...?

Well, that's what I assumed, but it never hurts to ask. :^) Arx was fun, but given that I have a playable Xbox copy I'm not sure I want to buy it again. That's all.

Lol, Yeah, I'm playing Arx with an Xbox 360 controller (XPadder) it's a lot easier to control, especially with the magic... oh the magic...

So you're drawing magic by using a thumbstick set as the mouse? I'll have to try that.

Hopefully the Arx Libertatis team add controller support later on.

Oh yeah! It's the best man! Don't even bother waiting on Arx Libertatis. Just go get an earlier (free) version of XPadder. Get 5.6 off of File Tube. It was a free version so it's not stealing or anything, the file just isn't hosted anymore since the original creator sold the program and it's now all corporal.
...so it turns out I'd already set up an Xpadder profile for this and forgot all about it. :D Casting works surprisingly well but everything else relies on the mouse in ways Xpadder can't accommodate so easily (no arrow/WASD support for the inventory and menus and such, so nothing to bind for that sort off thing). Having some optimisations in that area would be really beneficial. Either way I'll certainly give it a proper chance the next time I play. :)

Menu's are a pain. I set my Xpadder profile up for better mouse support (faster, etc.) it's pretty mouse like now to be honest!

Good luck man!
