Right, so, when I played this game ages ago, I think I tried playing as a human, no story, balanced stats, and Doctor/Gunfighter as the "Auto-spend-your-points" option, because I didn't know what to expect and I figured being able to fight at a distance while being able to heal myself, and not having to depend on party members, would be the way to go. I also remember not getting very far, because my save game got corrupted. At that point, I figured "Screw this", and started a new game of Black & White.
Anyway, I'm ready to start a new game, an I want to play a mostly solo Human, playing only with companions when the story or side quests demand it (If I could make up my own backstory, I'd write him as something like a Vietnam Veteran, sorta like John Rambo as he was in First Blood, not the subsequent movies. Perks would be points in skills and attributes relevant to self-reliance and combat, flaws would probably be points taken away from charisma, as nobody really trusts a drifter, and of course JR went into "Flashback Mode", which is a flaw in and of itself) . I also prefer tech over magic, but if magic characters play better by themselves, lemme know. I appreciate the appeal of rogue-ish characters, but ever since playing the very first Splinter Cell, I've lost all patience for hiding and waiting, so I'd only put points in Charisma for shopping and dialogue purposes. Oh, and for Poison Resistance, too, if it still counts for that in this game. I'm keen on treasure and secret area (and unique weapon/armour/tool) hunting. I plan on playing the "honourable path", and don't intend to lie too much, so I suppose I may have to hire or otherwise recruit a thief companion for lockpicking (I forget, can I take control of an NPC for pickpocketing? I'd rather not have to murder for keys and the like). I'm also a bit of a packrat, so I might need to either hire a half-orc or half-ogre as a packmule, unless there's some kind of "Gravitational Nullificatron" (or whatever it might be called in 19th century technospeak) to cancel out part of the weight of my pack.
Right, now that all of that's out of the way, I've another question. Is the ending of the game based partly on your techno-magical alignment, like Silverfall? Is part of getting the best ending being able to strike a balance between the two aspects?
(Sorry about the really long character prep. I just wanted to clarify everything to make sure I got the most accurate recommendation.)
