RedWraith: You poor, poor kid,
where does this hatred come frome ?

Prator: Ever do the gnome conspiracy quest? Trust me, there are some good reasons to argue for genocide. As in, "It's them or us!" reasons. Those gnomes are like the Illuminati of Arcanum...
Actually, that raises a question for me. Can you do this quest if you're playing a gnome character? If so, does anything change?

Illuminati of Arcanum! uahuashuauhauah! true :D
i just make some gnome barbecue!

KingOfDust: Just remembered this topic and tought I'd update it with the results of my genocide. I disintegrated all the gnomes I could find, even the ones in Tulla and the archeologist of the Panarii church. Probably killed a few halflings that looked too much like gnomes for their own good too.
It didn't change the ending. Was quite satisfying though.

Prator: Congratulations! Future generations of Arcanum will remember you as their savior, and call you "KingOfDust, Destroyer of Gnomes!"

God, I LOVE this game. The only game that ACTUALLY LETS YOU DO THIS.

To be fair, I'm pretty sure you could also kill everyone in Fallout 1 & 2 and I know for sure that you could also do this in Morrowind (if you killed an important npc it would tell you that you just messed up your game, but you could keep playing anyway).
Have you ever thought that this might actually be an allegory to Jews?
- they are distinct and closed "race"
- not many non-jews usually cordially hang out with them, some people just don't like them
- they are smart and very successful in business/gaining influence
- because of this, they need to be very cautious about personal safety

The conspiracy of jews doing something horrible sparked pubic outrage several times (and I'm not only talking about the most obvious - WW2). In fact it is still a popular debate whether there are some jewish-circles governing the world (I'm not into conspiracies, though).

See how you reacted violently when finding out about the gnome conspiracy. And this is only a game. Imagine something similar in a real world and substitute jews for gnomes.

Then imagine that you did not actually discover hard evidence, only what somebody told you [propaganda]. How restrained would you be in your outrage? Would you double-check the facts, or would you let your emotions take over you?

Disclaimer: I am only tickling your imagination here, because I find it interesting. I have nothing against jews nor am I a jew myself. In the game, I also went on a killing spree after discovering the conspiracy :P
