Hello all! I followed the tutorials around here, and installed the unofficial patch UAP091225, followed by the high quality town maps. The game worked great until that point.

But then, I installed the HighRes Patch 1.1a, and that's when the mouse cursor stopped working. I can get to the menu, but then I get stuck there, unable to move the mouse (the keyboard works though). The menu looks somewhat weird as well!

I tried adding no3d and doublebuffer, as well as changing compatibility and disabling Desktop Composition and Disable Themes, but it didn't solve the issue... I've tried looking everywhere on the forum here, but none of the solutions work.

Anyone else had this problem with the High Res Patch?

I'm currently using Windows 7 SP1 x64 bit.

PredaN00b: ...
Have you already tried disabling the “enhance pointer precision” option?
Go to the Control Panel => Mouse => Pointer Options and uncheck the “Enhance pointer precision” option.
Did you tried to do an ALT+TAB and then return to the game? I don't remember in what game i used to have problems but i remember that was the way i solved them..

* I trust you're are using the latest version of highres patch (1.1a)

That's a common problem in the menus.
Hello all, sorry for the late reply, I had given up on the issue..

I tried both alt+tab, as well as the enhance pointer issue, and neither seemed to work..

Yes, I'm using the latest version of the high res patch. 1.1a.. I just double checked. :(

You can try running Arcanum in a window then. If you use the same resolution that you use in your desktop, the window will fit perfectly on the screen and you won't notice any difference at all. So, try this and see if the cursor works right. ;-)

ps. Regarding to "how to run arcanum in windowed mode" check the following link:

I wound up disabling and unistalling the hires patch, for similar reasons. Never noticed any difference anyway, at the resolution my monitor displayed it at.
Anyone still having problems - this worked for me...

Change high DPI scaling to "performed by Application"
