Hi, I have a question for which I couldn't find an answer anywhere.
Basically, I think the apprentice and expert bonuses for Backstab are pretty cool. However, I don't have many character points to invest in the skill itself, so I thought I could put just one point in it, grab the +2 bonus from the blessing of Moonrinal, train it to expert level and then forget it.
Would I still get the bonuses from being an expert backstabber when my skill value drops from 3 to 1 after I get the final blessing and lose my +2 from Moonrinal's blessing?
Thanks.

Yes the training is independent of the skill level so if you use charged rings for example to boost your dex and then put more points in melee than you would normally be able to and trained up to expert and then took off the rings you would still get the expert bonus but would kind of suck at melee because of the skill drop.

You can tell this works because gnomes and dwarves start off with some skill bonuses that give small fractions of one point in a skill and you can still train and get the benefit of apprentice level even though you dont actually have a full point in the skill.
