Royial20: I love Arcanum. One thing that irks me that really isn't game related is this... Arcanum in my opinion has a GORGEOUS soundtrack. The music is excellent, beautiful and much more... Why doesn't GOG have the soundtrack as an extra downloadable bonus? I know its something i could online and such but i just found it annoying. I mean BLOOD has a downloadable soundtrack but not Arcanum? I find it weird and annoying and I hope they do add it later. I would love to have it as a bonus item.

Just a little thing that irked me... That and random assassins.
Agreed, it would be nice to see.

Quick link for the convenience of those who don't have it;

A lot of this is wrong. You can sneak up on things - tell your non-sneaky dudes to wait. You can coordinate the attack, tell them to attack a specific monster, to back off, etc. (Spell and equipment management unfortunately actually suck.) In a certain location, I ordered the dog to eat enemies while I distracted them and Virgil to heal us but otherwise not to engage in combat. Everyone else just waited outside because I didn't want the weapons damaged and Virgil couldn't heal the unarmed attack backlash fast enough.

As for the dialogue - GTA wets his pants upon encountering actual necromancy, Zan has a chat with Loghaire and a baddy and has awesome "tell me about this place" lines (too bad she's encountered late in the game when most quests have been completed), Torian Kel is AWESOME and chats up two baddies, Franklin Payne is hilarious, Vollinger is SPOILER ALERT. Loghaire himself also qualifies, but mostly for Zan and Magnus.

Im still doing early game here. In the Black Mountain mines, Magnus charged the very last (lava) golem. He's got a magical plate mail, decent 70 health so I let him do that.He got stomped and yelled for help, I told him to back off (F5), next combat round he died nevertheless :( oh well its quickload to the beginning of the map.

Same thing happened to Virgil and the "Swamp Thing" creatures lurking in the sewers. By the time he yelled for help, he was doomed. Must press F5 sooner I guess.

This game needs a #GoStandInThatCorner NPC command. Pressing F1 to move them to a safe plce will make them run there but they come back.

Would be nice if we have an F button for #Wait and #Come

I haven't completed the game, and when I linked that I was referring more to the combat system rather than the NPC dialogue content (or the lack of it as that page suggests).

Thinking of NPC behaviour... As I found out to my misfortune, keeping real time combat enabled and having an archer in the party is a very bad idea.

It's difficult to deal with the sheer number and speed of arrows fired... And friendly fire hurts.

For that matter, I find it somewhat irritating that weapons which don't call up projectiles (i.e. anything that fires bullets) never incur friendly fire, yet weapons which do have projectiles (arrows, lightning balls, etc.) nearly always incur it if there's an ally between the shooter and the target.

Edit: Or even if the shooter and ally are standing on the same tile, as often is the case in random encounters.

On a related note, I was surprised and dismayed to find that grenades do not harm me or my allies in their explosions. It's a bit weird to throw bombs at a guy who's right in front of me and suffer no ill effects.

Since NPC combat management in game isn't as extensive as it should've been .. maybe its an intended design or last minute change.

Kinda remind me of typical witches
If cornered, throw a grenade at the floor, boom .. smoke ensues, and you win :)
Traditionally this is smoke bomb, but whatever's on hand

Yeah, if you had control over your party, I would welcome more friendly fire. But without party control, it would be havoc.

You can do this with smoke grenades in Arcanum, and that''s fine. But when I can throw an explosive grenade at my feet and watch all the enemies get hurled away while I remain unharmed... well that's a bit weird.
the combat system... more precisely the fact that there is no tactical pause, but just an alternation between real time and turn based, thing that make more problems than its worth.
when im faced with certain enemies like gore guards, the combat system is really problematic. they move too fast for me to target them in real time and they have too many movement points, making it impossible to to avoid getting swarmed in turn based
"Moral" system.

I've massacred a bunch of guards using grenades, murdered a bunch of innocent Tarantian for their jewelleries and I'm still considered good?

There's lots of ways to slow/stop enemies cold in Arcanum ! :)
For both mages and techno men and women !

Same here my alignment got to 100 without much effort from me and I can't think of a ....... "decent" way to wind it back to 0 or neg so I can recruit the evil elf .. without spending lots of char points to get master persuasion.

HUYGE SPOILER BELOW
******************
I guess I can sell off Druella to Sir Stout for -50 but that leaves me still at 50 and keeping Gar as a follower doesn't seem to lower alignment much.
There's an evil helmet also that a FAQ claims can make me more evil "each time" its equipped and raise magick aptitude but that turns out to be false :|

END HUYGE SPOILER :)

Find a hobo and tell him to get a job.

As for the helmet, it got fixed in the unofficial patch.
Harm is, unfortunately, quite possibly the most powerful spell in the game, at least in terms of damage to fatigue ratio (with the possible exception of aoe spells on groups). Turn on real-time combat and spam to your heart's content. It's even more ridiculously powerful when you get the cost reduction for spells (I don't even remember how to do that... Tulla?). I think it ends up being only 2 fatigue per cast.

Probably because the game's soundtrack can already be found as MP3 files in (Arcanum install directory)\modules\Arcanum\sound\music\ (also true for disc-based installs).
Wow thanks! Well I didn't know that. Its just a little thing that irked me plus I guess I figure why not?
