Hey goggers--

So I stole some money from someone in Tarant. I did it behind a closed door, and the person I was stealing from didn't react, so I assumed I had gotten away with it, and I saved the game.

Then I went outside, and ALL of the guards started shooting at me. The person I had stolen from still didn't care.

I'm wondering if there's any way out of this situation short of killing every single guard in Tarant. After such a genocide, I'd have a hard time taking the game seriously.

(I realize I could reload an older save, but I don't want to bother.)

Thanks.

Whoops, it turns out that my genocide was unnecessary after all!

It seems like the guards attacked me based on their proximity when I committed the crime. Then other guards attacked me if they saw me fighting in the streets. Solution: dispose of guards discretely behind the building.
Ooooooh!
Thanks, I'll remember that.
Actually, they're a bit smarter than that - if you just killed a guard and stand, like, in close proximity to his corpse, then guards that pass by would assume it's your fault anyway and attack even if they didn't directly witness your involvement.
Cool, I will keep that in mind if I ever have to kill more guards :D
