Hello all!

I recently got to the Island of Despair and when I started the quest for the spectacles, I went back to Ashbury and got them from the spectacle vendor there. But now when I tried going back to the Island of Despair, Edward Teach won't talk to me. He just says that whenever I need him, I can come and talk to him. But he won't talk. Not even a dialogue window pops up, just a small line of text.

I can't use regular fast travel because it's on an island, and no other ship goes to the Island. Am I stuck? Is this stuff broken now?

I am using a widescreen patch, and the unofficial patch.

Any help would be appreciated, even help that tells the bad news of a broken game ._.

The Isle of Despair is a once-only destination, sorry to say. Even Edward Teach isn't crazy enough to sail back there so that you can complete a sidequest.
Can't teleport there, either.

Edit: You know, this would be a good subject for a patch. Something that either opens the Isle of Despair to magical teleportation or also bars other Vendigroth locations from such, for example.

Huh, this is really weird. Especially since when you get back to the ship when you're in the island. If you talk to Teach then, he ports you back to Ashbury, and there is no way to decline. I was just going to ask him if he's alright after the attackers, but I couldn't say that I'm not ready to leave.

That's true, the dialogue should probably allow you some more freedom to not go back right then, and/or warn you that once you leave you can't just return. I mean, it makes sense that Teach doesn't want to go back to the Isle of Despair, it is in the middle of nowhere and a deserted penal colony - not the most fun place to sail.
Being unable to return to the Isle was always a bit of a sore spot with me. While I understand Teach's reluctance, I would have hoped that I would be able to return upon acquiring my own vessel. But alas, it was not to be, and poor Ogdin never got his book.
