So I leveled my smithing skill up to build the "balanced sword". I have all the incredience to make it. (Pure Ore and fine hilt and guard). But i cant chose it. The view schematics button just makes a sound and nothing happens. I have the hi res patch and the unofficial patch installed. Running game on windows XP-sp3. So is it a glitch or am I missing something...

Exactly what sound does it make - of a successful craft or failure? Does your inventory have enough space for a new sword? Did you double-check if it's really pure ore, not, say, dwarven or something? Do you have Magnus in your party so that you could test crafting on him? Did you, per chance, downed a gallon a booze recently and now your Intelligence's not on par with requirements?

Seems to me he's saying he can't even bring up the interface to try to craft in the first place.

I can bring up the interface to crafting. I made the pure ore myself its the first schematic. The Balanced sword is the second schematic. I can't bring up the schematic change interface. I can't get to see the second schematic. If i hold down the button then it makes the same sound repeatedly.

And Magnus seems do not have that schematic yet. And I haven't consumed anything. And there is more than enough space in my inventory. And i cant describe the sound it makes. Its like the sound when you can't do something. Yea I know it sounds awkward, but that's what I hear.
EDIT: surely said I'm A DUMBASS!! I just didn't see the little arrows up in the corner with that you change your schematics. That's just me no paying attention. Sorry for the trouble. The Hires patch surely makes sometimes hard to spot somethings. Anyhow thanks for the replies chaps. I'm of playing now.
