The
reupload from the last page at http://www.filedropper.com/arcanumequilibriumrebalancebyleonidusxv112 still works man.
Thanks,

It must have started up again. Downloading now,
First off, thank you Ewmarch! I'm going to try out this 1.0 patch soon. I'm also quite interested in 2.0.

I love the idea of re-balancing tech vs magic. I can't say I'm looking forward to being one-shotted more often though. I think of Arcanum as an already unforgiving quick combat system, especially when running in Network multiplayer. Every module starts with basic equipment and all combat is in real time. As it is, lag can be deadly in seconds.

I'm interested in doing a little modding myself. Do you have any recommendations for where I can find resources and documentation for modding? Some of the things I'm interested in adding/fixing are as follows:

-Create a mod for saving character inventory and/or progress in a multiplayer module
-Add a button to the in-game interface that brings up the Esc menu
-Add a configuration file to adjust % life of all living things (Increase/Decrease combat duration as you see fit)
-Add an auto-save feature

Terra-arcanum is the main source of real information for Arcanum. It's been down for a while and if it stays down, the only source will be the russian forum.

It seems some of the forum functionality can be seen by going directly to it.

Try:
http://www.terra-arcanum.com/forums/index.php?forums/modding-and-scripting-support.5/

Don't know about game interface modding personally, though someone did successfully make an interface change for higher resolutions so it can be done. He went by Crypton. He actually did much of the original work for most things Drog later stole and released under his own name, without credit of course. His defunct site is http://arcanum.game-alive.com/.

I don't think there exists an easy across the board hp adjustment aside from game difficulty setting? In the game files you can change all NPCs quickly, because they reference races and classes (in a classless game, ironically) and so elves, orcs, humans, etc would be quick to change. All monsters takes about 3 hours to do a 'formulaic adjustment' on each one in the files, from my experience. With some monster data you have to add the HP line if it doesn't exist, if you want a changed value.

Wish I could tell you about auto-save, but I can't. Sorry, my friend. The russians might know.
edit: Do we have an update on how far off 2.0 is? I know life gets in the way but I wanted an Arcanum replay in before Pillars of Eternity is out, and this rebalance mod looks great!

It's going to happen when I know I will have about 3 months of time to do nothing but mod after work every day.

That's the tricky part.

Sorry, but it's better than releasing a 2.0 which is horribly bugged or woefully incomplete.
Does anyone have a mirror(or could upload the mod to a mirror), as terra-arcanum is currently undergoing a site update, and all downloads are unavailable. Time: undetermined.

Thanks :)

PaulTheMerc: Thank you!
You're welcome. :)
My god! I just discovered this mod. Thank you for keeping Arcanum alive! It is, for all its faults, the best crpg by far. I am currently enjoying PoE, but as always I find myself missing the wonderfull world and extreme freedom of Arcanum.

I'm iching to do my semi yearly Arcanum run again. Should I go for your 1.0 version or is 2.0 worth waiting for?
Hello, I'm wondering if this is compatible with carcanum/ polished carcanum.
Incompatible with carcanum, and don't hold out for next version. As I've said earlier in the topic, I had started work on it but had to suspend it due to job change+moving.

This type of mod requires a lot of time, testing, and needs to be carried through sort of all at once so you can juggle all the changes freshly in your mind (not forget a few and result in imbalance). When I have that kind of time, I can sit down and do v2.0.

The terra-arcanum forums were put back up, which is great news because without that there might have been zero chance of a 2.0. Anyone interested in making their own changes can see what all us Arcanum modders have written out. The newish Arcanum Factory program is fantastic for this as well, and very highly recommended.

ewmarch: One of the main thing that honestly stops me from getting back to it asap is I wonder how many people will play it, especially since most who were willing to try 1.0 at all you can bet won't bother installing it for a second try.
Have you considered contacting video game journalists after version 2.0's release? I'm thinking ArtistryinGames.com and people on YouTube. Other than that, you could post about it on different website forums.

whatevbro: I am definitely going to play the game with this mod! Looking forward to it!

If you didn't promote it aggressively last time. You can do it this time (on Reddit, here, Steam, youtube and so on). I am sure a lot of people will pick pick the game again when they see this mod.
Agreed. Making a trailer or atleast a quick gameplay video would be better than nothing. Someone who's planning on Let's Playing Arcanum can do it with version 2.0 installed.

I've been tempted to replay Arcanum, but I'll wait atleast until the end of the year since I have so many other games to play.
