i bought this game after i played the older ones but everytime i start it the menus are just white boxes and when i start a game the character model would be all blue in a white space i had to take a pic from the internet showing the glitch cause i cound't take a screenshot for some reason btw i use windows 8

This happens to me! but I found the issue. for you see windows 7 and 8 needs a opengl that works on later systems for this because the layout was programed in opengl. but I do not know how to find a supported opengl to fix this

Yeah,

I am dealing with the same problem. I guess this game isn't popular enough for them to update. But really, GOG should flag it or something if it won't work on newer systems.

Yep, problem for me too. Really wanted to try this out. Almost never have compatibility issues with GOG games, I am going to try to contact support.

An update on the graphical issues with this game. I contacted gog support only to find out that windows 8.1 is not officially supported for this title, they offered me a refund but I wanted to see if could still get the game running. In steam discussions I came across someone suggesting that the much-maligned KB3000850 windows update was the culprit. I have access to another windows 8 machine lacking this update, I just tested Alone in the Dark 4 and the game ran without any issues.

I now need to research if I can rollback this one update on my computer. I installed it some time ago ignorant of the many issues reported by others. It is possible that this update is not even the problem, but it is the best explanation I have at the moment.
