Why the Fuck is this game so hard? Ive been playing this game on medium using shotguns and pistols with self healing on my char. I am now on easy-4th level. I only increase hp, accuracy and intelligence. The imbalance in this game is so much that no one can beat it. How can you expect to call a difficulty medium when no one can barely do anything on easy.

Can someone please fill me on on this crap because this game is more imbalanced than an abortion. Dont get me wrong, i love this game, but how can you expect to call it a game when no one can get past the 4th level on fucking easy. Every fucking message board on gamefaqs lists the 4th level as the most current. Are these creators doing crack or are they lacing it with acid?

I never had any trouble getting through the game, and I'm not exactly a skilled player. I'd suggest that you not limit yourself to just shotguns and pistols. Neither of those weapons is going to be the best choice in every situation. Also, don't be afraid to poke around for secret places. Some of the best weapons in the game can be found just lying around if you look around enough.

If that be the case then this game truly does suck. If shotguns and pistols are there and the game has a set and hidden way of how it should be played, then fuck it. This game can load my ass.

I never said that shotguns and pistols were useless. Every weapon type in this game is useful in a particular situation (pistols are an ammo conservation weapon, shotguns are mostly for close-range elimination of larger foes, machine guns are an all-around workhorse, rocket launchers are best for large mobs, and "power" weapons fit several different situations depending on which weapon you have). Expecting you to use the weapons the game provides is hardly a "set and hidden way" of playing. It's just common sense. As I said, I never had any trouble getting through this game at all, and I suck at videogames.
I think maybe you guys are not talking about the same game. This is a combo board for both Alien Shooter and Alien Shooter 2. I suspect deathknight1728 is playing Alien Shooter 2 and jefequeso is talking about the first one.

I don't own Alien Shooter 2 yet so I can't comment on its difficulty, but the first Alien Shooter is a quite easy I think, since it is not a big challenge even on Hard. You always have enough money to buy the next weapon you need (I never picked up a weapon in a level that I didn't already buy) Difficulty peaks at around level 7 and 8, after that you just blow everything away with the magma gun. On Easy it doesn't even matter much which stats you increase, definitely go for Strength on Hard level though, because ammunition can run low quickly.

While the shotgun is very important in the game, there are others. Buy yourself the light blaster as soon as possible, then get the second shotgun slibert and the game becomes significantly easier. Don't worry about machine guns, nearly useless in terms of damage and accuracy. At the start of the game and for the first 5 or 6 levels, don't really bother with the rocket launchers either. Grenade laucher is completely worthless. You can safely ignore the grenades.

To win the game, pump your stats into accuracy mostly, then strength secondarily, then the rest between Life and Speed. Intelligence is useless. The special ability is generally of limited use. Auto heal is handy, but economy is much more useful for a minor cash bonus for better gear.

The game is plenty balanced if you figure out which guns work on which enemies best and how to avoid their shots.
Wow, I played through Alien Shooter in an afternoon. You point, you click, you wiggle the A+D buttons a little if you get trapped.

It's really not rocket science, hell, it's not even regular science.

I have finished AS2:Reloaded multiple times with different character builds, and am by no means a 'twitch' player. It's not particularly hard, although I wish they would add another difficulty rating as once you're experienced and know the pickups and weapons, you hardly break a sweat.

Weapons
You definitely need all the weapons all the time (okay, bar grenades as they suck), in fact quite often you will (or should) be strafing and retreating, fire button held down continuously as your other hand dances back and forth over the weapon selection buttons. Cluster of targets? Fire off a few blasts with the shottie, or snap off a rocket, then swap back to machine gun and sweep up the stragglers, or 'drill' out a corridor. Fire measured shots from the energy weapons (they are all burst weapons, even if they have laser effects) to clear rooms, and swap to the pistol to nab the lone survivor or to smack down a big crawler.

Your weapons are your life, and if you choose not to use some of them, you will find the game very difficult to play indeed. The only thing I would say is choose your guns carefully depending on your play style and build. Get the most accurate, fastest firing pistol you can find (not the Desert Eagle, too slow and inaccurate) once you have the top pistol, the SLK, at lower diff levels it will gib small aliens, and even at high levels is one of the most effective weapons against big walkers. Pistol ammo is cheap and plentiful.

Shotguns are one of the most effective in the game and their blast effect gives a huge kill:ammo ratio, so are very efficient. Get yourself the automatic ones, and these will take you to level 12+ easily. Once you get the max shotgun, it is out-of-scale and entire rooms of aliens just melt if you point it at them. There is so much ammo you can safely rock'n'roll pretty much the whole level. Machine guns are the mainstay - just enough damage to take down without overkill, or you can pour rounds on to take out bigger monsters. They are also one of the safest ways of taking out the rocket bosses, as the rockets simply detonate as they are fired. Again, make sure you get the most accurate, biggest clip model and you will not be disappointed. This class has the most ammo in the game. Load up and go to town!

Grenades are crap and scale out almost instantly as soon as they are available. I only keep a launcher so I can sell the grenades. Rockets are nice, but have the slowest RoF and you eventually scale down DPS unless you constantly upgrade, which is expensive. Personally I sell them all, so I can afford more upgrades for my main guns.

Energy guns are the high-tech toys and will deliver a lot of bang for buck, but the cells are not found very frequently and are expensive. You can get the laser pistol at level 1, and it has infinite ammo. You can use this for the first several levels to sell all the ammo you find to buy a nice gun well ahead of scale, and then cruise easily for the next few levels.

Although they scale off fast, it is well worth keeping a freeze or flame gun as they provide perfect defence against a hail of rockets. Killing rocket bosses simply becomes a case of walking up to them and waiting until they die.

It is vitally important to constantly upgrade you guns ahead of the scaling of the enemies. Generally you guns will be devasting, then mediocre, then ineffective. Upgrade or die.

Attributes
All are useful but it depends on your build. I recommend Speed (so you can back off faster than they can run = 0 melee damage), Strength (carry more ammo and also boosts health) and your Pick, Accuracy (damage) or Life. Intelligence might be under-rated, but is actually very powerful when maxxed out. 70 points of intelligence will let you equip modules which offer 100+ points of stats, plus the bonus will net you another 30+, so it is actually more efficient than simply pumping one stat, plus you can swap modules if you feel like swapping stats around for some reason.

Picks
Although Regeneration seems good, you will actually heal slower than the damage you will receive, and it scale off. If you want to make it easier, take Vampire, as then the health will scale with your damage. You can pretty much walk through the game like this - max out accuracy for more damage and more health. Hypnotism is not bad either - you can 'convert' a mass of aliens and use them as a shield wall, while you lob fire over them. This breaks their 'swarm' tactic as all they do is run at you, and can't so they mill around stupidly. Fish in a barrel. Economy is potentially the most powerful as you can afford weapons well in advance of when you should be able to. The game becomes a walkthough then.
I'm on lvl 6. bloody difficult, but I'll try another run with the above advice.
I am replaying it,I finished long time ago, I think without much problems. But actually I find it extremely difficult, maybe I am getting old, lol.
There are two ways to make the game hard
-Bad luck with the triggers, because there're several points where you can trigger several Events/Spawns in a row
if you behave "wrong"
-Bad tactics...wasting the ammo, using "antique" weapons,...

but even then...one should be able to walk through the game at medium.

I am only a medicore skilled player, at shooters, and i died only once at my first Playthrough at AS2
(during the "drive for your live"-Part i tried to evade some Rocketmobs and triggered a Row of
hidden tornbombs :)

Wow I clicked the thread for the lols and found the most helpful post about the game I could ask for. Thank you very much.
Would have been much more useful to include your short guide instead of that atrocious manual.
I realize this thread is old, but here's a tip. The monsters with rockets actually kill other monsters, specially when you drive them into a frenzy by staying behind a wall. For some reason, they know you're on the other side and they just let it rip. They end up just killing each other. I found that an effective way of dealing with those crazy large mobs.
