Played this game for several times and have lots of questions to experienced non-combat players

1. Is there any way to get into Abyss without being Lore Master (Feng's Apprentice) or having unnaturally high STR/DEX or CON for a charismatic and highly intelligent wimp like my PC?

2. Is there any way to get into Gaelius' Library by siding with Commercium and "replacing" him with puppet Serenas?

3. What will happen If I request a robot to exterminate whole Inferiae village, go to a portal to Tower with dead magician, remove charging battery, went back to village and drop down again. Will I ever be able to return to Maadoran somehow?

4. What's the purpose of Blue Steel smelting machine??? I already spent one battery, got one more in Maadoran, got a glove which required 3 more. Where I can get more batteries If I am weak and can't swim in wells, not serving in Imperial Guards and can't kill anyone.

5. Is it possible to kill a scavenger in Library of Saross with poisoned dagger, antidote and several black powder bombs with STR DEX CON = 4 and low dagger/throwing/block/critical hit skills??? >>> apparently it's the ONLY WAY to get the mechanism working down there.

6. Will I get extra points if I poison Aurelian Outpost inhabitants before wiping them all with Raiders' forces?

7. What's the deal with Thessalos? He has a super armor I don't really want, he shows it only to Feng's Apprentice and don't speak with anyone else. Is it a quest or something?

1) Yes.

2) No, I don't think so. To access his library you have to go with the Forty Thieves or Aurelians.

3) There is at least one more big battery in the game. It depends on whether or not you find it.

4) There are more to find. I don't remember them all, but I think you can get some for retrieving a certain suit of armor...

5) I've never tried killing that guy with a non-combat character. I know it is possible to get the machine working without his part if your Lore and Crafting are high enough. It helps if you get the second missing part first. Try asking someone who knows about Saross.

6) I don't know the exact point breakdown on that. Maybe someone else does.

7) On another forum I read that only Loremasters have access to Thessalos. He's never talked to me otherwise.

UniversalWolf: 1) Yes.
Could you please be more specific. If for example I'm playing a drifter with low STR-DEX-CON and no one offered me a "talisman" in the Inn, my PC merely got alive from that damn well and I still want to go to Abyss. There is an old man there who says he can sell some wards/talisman, but my PC is not that interested.

There's a breathing apparatus in the well in the Slums, but your character may not be able to retrieve it. You'll need that item and 1 power tube to charge it. I don't think you'll be able to get to the bottom of The Abyss without the breathing apparatus, so it may be closed to your character.

This game don't like perceptive highly intelligent charismatic persons being able to swim through wells, especially with low lockpicking skills. I thought I mentioned something about having low on STR/DEX and CON.

This is why I mentioned that STR/DEX might be useful for talky characters in the other thread. If they're not high enough (total STR+DEX) then you can't get to that location, which means you can't get the breathing apparatus, which means you can't get to the end of the Abyss (unless you have high CON or you can get a breathing apparatus from somewhere else).

The only breathing apparatuses I know of are:

1) In the chest in the well.
2) That prospector - but he only appears if you're a loremaster (which IMO is a bit unfair).
3) In a pile of bones... in the dead river... where the air will hurt you... past some giant scorpions...

I would suggest trying option 3) despite your character not being combat-oriented in the slightest, but I don't think I've ever had that location appear except AFTER Maadoran - by which time you can't get into the Abyss any more.

I can't remember exact point breakdown either, but I'm pretty sure that you get more points + cash if you get the raiders to take them out.

If you are short by 1 stat point from the requirements to swim in the well (they are not very high) but have very high intelligence and lore, you can raise DEX or CON by 1 by teleporting directly into the operating room from the Zamedi tower (you will also need crafting and a little lockpicking IIRC). This is how I was able to get the breathing aparatus with a non-combat character.

Ha! I didn't know about that one.

I'm sure there are loads of things I don't know about this game.

I didn't even realise you could climb down there until I accidentally found a hot-spot to do so and happened to have rope in my inventory. Then I started fighting some scorps for a laugh - mainly to check out the piles in case there were goodies in there.

That mask was useless for me since I already had one, plus you can't go back to the Abyss once you find this place as far as I know. Even with the mask your health gets drained continuously down here, so not sure how much worse it would be without one.

Can't remember what the other piles contained. I have vague memories of a spare power tube somewhere down there, but I could be wrong about that one.

Nice one! Didn't think of that option.

I can confirm the presence of a power tube in one of the skeleton piles down there.
