Sunfire7: Not exactly a mod, but rather some huge hotfix named "Bugs Fix 1.6.0.0105" (v.19):
http://www.irontowerstudio.com/forum/index.php/topic,7451.msg151989.html#msg151989
That's a huge amount of fixes! Cheers for the work you've obviously put into this, fixes up many annoying details that bugged me but weren't big enough for me to actually complain about (plus lots of fixes I didn't know were needed due to never meeting the exact criteria to trigger the original bugs).

BTW is there any reason these haven't been incorporated into the "official" mods by ITS? Were these only discovered/fixed after the last patch, and so you beat ITS to it? This would make sense since they're going full speed ahead with their Colony Ship RPG...

Oh and the Community Edition looks pretty cool too (fixing and adding useful stuff - not being able to use the respirator for TG4 really bugged me no end).

And cheers for letting us GOGers know about it.

Sunfire7: About incorporation - it's up to the devs (1), and yes, they seems quite busy with TNW (2).
Some of these bugs were discovered a months/year(s) before, long before the last patch, some - just recently by various fans.
I've decided to fix them by myself 'cause of a reason #2 mostly.
Well, cheers for doing that. While not detracting from the game overall, every time I see those little issues I wonder why it wasn't fixed - and in some cases, I wonder whether it was intentional or not.

Speaking of "is it intentional?", do you know if the Steel Auxiliary armor sold by one of the merchants in Maadoran is intentional or not? It seems a bit odd as it's the only steel armor sold in the whole city (possibly the whole game?). I always assumed it was some kind of weird balance decision or something...

Well here are two things that bugged me, but I don't think they need a mod as such - they're just oddities/anomalies:

First one is really minor but always bugged me - why does the Innkeeper in Teron not have a name? A fair few of the starting vignettes pretty much assume you've lived in Teron (or been there a while at least). On top of that, he knows your name! It's especially jarring when you play the mercenary, since he's your boss - and yet you don't know his name? Yeah it's a really, really minor issue - and no I can't think of a good name for him - but it always stood out.

Another thing that stood out, but that is more of a logic/lore issue: the demon in the Zamedi tower is described as reading a book. At first I thought this was a cleverly written piece; however, there are no books anywhere in the world! Only scrolls! I guess it's possible that the "invention" of books disappeared at some point though, but it still seems odd (how would your character know that it's a "book" for a start?).

BTW Someone should probably sticky this thread - or at least those two mod links.

Sunfire7: About Steel Auxiliary armor - I never paid attention to it, but yes, it's seems strange a bit for me too. I think it's better ask the devs about it.

About Teron Innkeeper - he has a hame, actually, had many years and builds ago. Look here:
http://i263.photobucket.com/albums/ii153/Culmination2008/The%20Age%20of%20Decadence/Unofficial%20Gallery/2006%20Screenshots/2006_0037.jpg~original
I dunno why the devs remove it. I'm easily can do such a mod.
Cool - though not essential, I won't complain if its in there (and it would make more sense). BTW that screenshot must be really ancient - shows how long the game was in development.

Sunfire7: Well, your mention about "books" is good one. Your character could know about it only from old scrolls if his/her lore skill is high enough, I suppose.
I guess the thing I found, after many playthroughs and finally noticing this discrepancy, is that appears to be the only place where "books" as such are mentioned. In other places it either mentions scrolls, or it doesn't allude to the structure of the document (so one can assume it would be in scroll-form).

Just seems like a little oddity, which I guess easily slipped through because sitting down reading a book sounds a lot more natural than sitting down reading a scroll. Also I can't quite recall since I haven't played this in a while (a fair few official patches ago actually), but I believe the graphic of the "demon" in that scene may actually show him reading a book? If so it fits with the graphic, yet its a curious anachronism of sorts...

Also if books did exist, one would expect them to still be around since one would expect books to be sturdier than scrolls? Though they're still made of paper, so I guess any existing ones could have easily been destroyed. Heh, this could easily turn into a really speculative interpretation of game lore...

Sunfire7: I've just checked - there are some books mentions:
- a bookworm - in Teron Mine;
- read Paullus like an open book - in Ganezzar siege;
- People are an open book to you - Persuasion skill 9 description in Char Screen;
- a book - in Zamedi (your mention).

The demon neither sitting, no reading any book actually. There is no such animation in the game. See attachs.
Yeah I didn't think there was an animation, but for some reason I remembered a demon sitting. I guess I just remembered imagining a demon sitting based on the text instead. ;)

Heh - guess my memory's a lot more dodgy (or selective) than I thought. I must have completely missed those other book mentions, but I think I have a vague explanation that goes beyond my bad memory: apart from the one I mentioned (where the PC observes a book being read), the others are all relatively common expressions/phrases in English, and not things that the PC observed or saw. So I guess they didn't register for that reason.

While those expressions/phrases are technically anachronisms in the context of the lore, it would probably sound strange if converted to a "true" lore-friendly phrase. Sure, the game could say "people are like an open scroll to you" or "read Paullus like an open scroll", which would be more in-line with the game's lore - some games do actually go this route- but personally I think it sounds a bit forced in both those cases, so I actually prefer the devs leaving the (standard English) phrases as they have here.

IMO this changing of standard phrases tends to only really work well in games that are already taking liberties with the language and/or have a more comedic bent - Terry Pratchett style writing could get away with it, for example. But I don't think that would fit the game's style (with its "drier" writing style). The fact I didn't notice these anachronisms (despite noticing the one I mentioned - eventually after many playthroughs anyway) is my (possibly weak) evidence that the phrases work well as they are.

Do you know if this will be integrated into the GOG version like before or was that a one-off?

Sunfire7: It will be decided by the devs only.
OK, thanks. Hopefully it will be integrated.
