A brief examination of the release thread and Steam's product pages reveals that Steam offers "DLC" packs for the game, which GOG decided to omit from its release. And I put DLC in quotes, because their descriptions make at least some of them look more like instant power up packs.

For someone seeing the game for the first time, like me, the value of these packs and the amount of actual new content they introduce into the game may not be apparent, so I would ask the Agarest veterans on this forum to comment, which of the items in the DLCs are impossible to obtain in-game without actually purchasing the DLCs.

I provide the full DLC list below for convenience:
- 10 STR Up, 10 VIT Up, 10 AGI Up, 10 INT Up, 10 LUK Up and 10 Max HP Up, and 1 Resist HP Drain and 1 Resist HP Break.

- Seiryu's Sword, Genbu's Gauntlet, Byakko's Bracelet, Suzaku's Ring, 2 Accuracy Up+, and 2 Evasion Up+

- 5,000PP

- Unlock Gallery
- Unlock Voices
Everything that is 10 STR Up, 10 VIT Up, etc. is used to reduce grinding time but can be achieved with, ironically, days of grinding. Same for those that give EP, G, PP, etc.

All the items (Vajra Rod and whatnot) cannot be obtained without DLC.

If memory doesn't fail me, the unlock ones can be... unlocked by fulfilling certain objectives in the game without the need for DLC.

If you are looking for unique DLC content, it's the items; I think I remember there being a very small number of them that could be crafted (or similar things to them), but they were like very few, so you don't risk getting them all in a single DLC pack.

Thank you for your reply.
So, assuming that the items in duplicate are not unique to the DLC, the short list of unique DLC content looks like this:
- 1 Anglachel, 1 Dainslaif, and 1 Ginna's scythe
- 1 Vajra Rod, 1 Magic Hand, 1 Madu, 1 Ymir's Claw, and 1 Hidden Seeker
- 1 Blood Red, 1 Durandal
- 1 Krishna

- 1 Lollipop Stick, 1 Revoltcane, 1 E.O.M., 1 Ring of Epsilon, and 1 Floating Stone
- 1 Tenma Sword, 1 Altis Rod, 1 Heaven's End, and 1 Imperial Guard

Edit:
I missed these items in the first run: - 1 Rage Blaster, 1 Destroy, and 1 Mighty Ring

That's correct.
So, the "DLC" is basically thinly-veiled pay-to-win-F2P garbage, only for a non-F2P game.

Would that be a fair assessment?

Frostyfirefly: That's correct.
Thank you again.
Now people can pester GOG and Ghostlight to release an armoury pack with the actual new content here :)
I think, I will even create a wishlist entry.

Yes, it's mostly pay to win, or pay to win faster as in not spending half a year on the game.

Some of the items, like a giant lollypop and such, look pretty funny on your characters; but yeah, the DLC is mostly paying for better stats, weapons, etc.

While I don't have any actual knowledge of the game, I am under an impression that the developers tried to inflate the value of their "armoury packs" with pay-to-win bonuses.

Edit: Ninja'ed by a pro

Edit 2:
I also wanted to mention that it's a pity, they didn't actually create any plot devices to introduce new gear into the game. These equipment packs almost always range from bland and useless to bland and broken. The keyword, unfortunately, being "bland".

I'm more or less certain that you can use Cheat Engine to get the stats without paying (or grinding) for it. I don't think that is illegal either. (Correct me if I'm wrong.) As for the actual content DLCs, yeah, they should be on sale as well, although even those look like a money grab.

This will be somewhat off-topic, but i don't think it merits another topic: I played the game on PS3, and found that the ghostlight version's translation was quite horrible. Is this any better?

Cheating in a single player game is up to the individual playing. Nothing illigal there. Some companies that want you to pay for cheats would lead the notion that is is.
Added the new topic to the wishlist, as promised:

I would be okay with these if they were introduced gradually within the different generations. Instead, you get the whole set of items from the beginning of the game. Great if you like being ridiculously overpowered (overkilling most foes in a single attack gets boring fast). Not so great if you're trying to play the game "normally." Thankfully, the GOG version comes with some of the lesser packs (bonus dungeons, healing item packs), and you can turn off the ones you don't want to use.

Cross Edge on the PS3 uses a similar formula and is just as annoying. I ended up deleting the DLC (even the free stuff was overpowered) and just keeping things like bonus levels and small item packs rather than weapons, armors and costumes.

I've sent an email to Ghostlight to see if they'd be interested in taking this approach, since this is a) such a niche game and b) so many of us bought it on Steam before it came here , that it doesn't look like it'll get enough votes to climb the Wish List. Will let you know if I get a reply / what I get.
Got a reply from Ross:

Hi {Me},

Thank you for your interest in Agarest and for bringing these threads to our attention.

While I don't have any news on this at the moment I've passed your interest in an armoury pack to the rest of the team.

Thanks

Ross
Hopefully something will come of this, the completionist part of me wants that extra stuff. :)
