Unfortunately you can't change them. The bubbles are always in English as they are part of the videos. No matter what language you choose, the videos stay the same and so do the bubbles. German voices should work fine though, as well as subtitles. If you can see the title menu in German everything works like it should.

What about downloading the German version installer? In your account you can choose which language to download. I haven't tried it myself so I don't know, but I've heard people talking about those sequences in German, so I'm assuming the different language installers contain the videos with text in those respective languages. Once again I haven't tried it so I can't confirm.

00dwan: What about downloading the German installer? Is it the same exact content with just the installer in German?
No, the game is in German, but only the videos stay the same, thus the embedded speech bubbles stay in English.

That sucks... you'd think it's sold in Germany and made by a German company so it would have a full German version. I would contact Daedalic at daedalic.de. I think their support is pretty good. Maybe they can send you the German video files if they even exist.

Friend of mine reported the same issue, but it´s not true for me!
Yes, you´ve heard right: It´s not true for me:
setup_a_new_beginning_2.0.0.5 & language_pack_a_new_beginning_5_german definitivly result in german cutscenes!

It does? Including the in-video speech bubbles? They stay in English in my version, but German voices and subs are added.
This is enough as a proof?

Check your installers and post your version numbers. GOG-team might help you/ all the others then! :)

Amazing! I'll check the version number, just out of curiosity. I don't need any help on this, as English is fine for me and I also own the German boxed version of the game ;-)

Wait a minute, language pack? So we aren't talking about the vanilla GOG version?

Oh, it was the GOG vanilla at that time I´ve doneloaded it. So there were two installers and so on, one for the english version and one that updated it to german!
Right now there is only one installer included and this seems to cause that issue!

Ah, okay. Yes, it seems this version only swaps the audio files and adds subs to the English version. GOG should definitely offer the real German version. Deadalic is a German developer after all.
Hello,

according to Daedalic there are only videos with english bubble texts for all languages.
See http://forum.daedalic.de/viewtopic.php?p=20343#p20343 (german).

However if you have the german DVD version (not Final Cut) you can replace the video files from the Final Cut version with the ones from an older version.

I only tested some of the first cutscenes in the game. I have not finished the game yet, so there may be problems.

Requirements
A new Beginning, DVD, german, version 1.2.1 (other non Final Cut version may work also)
A new Beginning - Final Cut, GOG, multilingual, version 2.0.3.0395 (setup_a_new_beginning_final_cut_2.2.0.7.exe)

Installation
Install both game versions in a different folder. In each folder there should be a subfolder called videos.

Replacing video files
Unfortunately the number of video files is different. There are 70 video files the DVD version and 67 video files in the Final Cut version. You have to rename some video files otherwise you will get cut scenes that don't match the plot.

The numbers refer to the video files (video.vv000 = 000) in the DVD version.

000 - 027 same
028 missing in Final Cut (Storyboard)
029 - 033 matches -1 position in Final Cut (DVD version = 029, Final Cut = 028)
034 missing in Final Cut (Dead person)
035 - 069 matches -2 positions in Final Cut (DVD version = 035, Final Cut = 033)
070 missing in Final Cut (Publisher Logo)

Example
You have to rename the file video.vv035 from DVD version to video.vv033 for the Final Cut version.
