Frequently asked questions
1. How do I gift a game?
Gifting games allows you to purchase any game available at GOG.com for your friend. To gift a selected game, click the “gift this game to a friend” link (you'll find this option on any product page, below the default purchase button). This will redirect you to the checkout page with an extra option to enter the gift recipient's e-mail address. As soon as you complete that purchase, GOG.com will send a unique gift certificate with redeem instructions to the provided e-mail address.
2. I've received a gift. How do I redeem it?
f you've received the gift certificate from another GOG.com user, simply go to www.gog.com/gift. Enter the gift code and the game is yours. Please note that you must be logged onto your GOG.com account to redeem the gift (if you don't have an account we'll create it for you on the first step).
3. How do I know if the gift certificate has been redeemed by the recipient?
After the purchase you'll notice a new “Gifted games” section on your “My account” page. It allows you to monitor the status of all purchased gifts and see if they were claimed. As soon as the recipient redeems the gift you've purchased, it will be marked as “redeemed” and the recipient's GOG.com username will be visible next to it.
4. Is it possible to resend the purchased gift?
Yes. If you want to resend the purchased gift certificate (for example due to a typo in the recipient's e-mail address), go to your “My account” page and click the “Gifted games”. Find the specific gift that you wish to send again and move your mouse over the recipient's e-mail address for the resend option to appear. You can type the same e-mail address to send the gift certificate again or you can provide a new e-mail if you wish to send the gift to a different person. However, please note that resending a gift to a different person doesn't prevent the first recipient from claiming it. Also, for obvious reasons, you can only resend purchased gift certificates that weren't redeemed yet.
5. I want to gift a game to my friend in person, not via a GOG.com e-mail...
The easiest way would be to gift that game to yourself, so you can write down the gift certificate code and give it to any friend. Since you're sending the gift to yourself, you'll find the gift code in the e-mail from GOG.com (although it will be also available in the “Gifted games” section in “My account”) and it can be claimed by anyone you give it to. Just don't forget to tell your friend about the link to www.gog.com/gift!
