Tex Murphy games up to 60% off

With the second promo this week we're giving you even more classics for even less money that you can imagine. The weekend deal is on all games featuring the not-too-lucky private investigator Tex Murphy. The collection consists of Mean Streets and Martian Memorandum bundle, Under a Killing Moon, Pandora Directive and Overseer games. You can grab all those titles with a 60% discount or selected games from the series 30% off. The final outcome is that's the best offer you can get and you just have to take advantage of it. Case closed.

Brilliant, finally finished my Tex Murphy collection!

Thnx GOG team.

I already bought them all in a previous promo. Seems like that's what everybody did.

I've only played part of the first one a while ago. Probably won't go back and finish because I understand that one of the later games is a remake that most people say is better. I really need to get around to playing the rest of this series sometime.

whodares2: Anyone know if Pandora Directive plays well with Win 7? Right now that is the only thing keeping me from this deal.
I've played them on both my laptop and desktop, both are running Windows 7 64bit, absolutely no problems whatsoever.
34
Guys, I have Pandora Directive already from a promo late last year. Should I get the other three (four really) or just the first one (two really)?
35
Second week in a row that you guys have a sale on stuff I already own.

GameRager: I wonder what the order is chronologically as the games go in the order of Mean Streets/Overseer, Martian Memorandum, Pandora Directive, Under a Killing Moon....yet it seems that the dates for the last two means they should be switched if one wants to play them in chronological order.....does anyone get what i'm getting at here or am I talking to myself? (Pandora says April 2043 and Killing Moon says Dec 2042...maybe it should be Dec 2043 and Gog made a typo? Which one is first chronologically in the game world? Pandora Directive or Killing Moon?)
Chronological order is:
Mean Streets
Martian Memorandum
Under A Killing Moon
Pandora Directive
Overseer

Having said that, each of the games can be played, and understood, without having played the other games.

Hope that helps. ( :

It seems to go well with yesterday's new release :-).
Anyway, not my cup of hot chocolate, but I'm pretty certain there will be a number of users (mostly newer ones, presumably, and older ones who have so far only sampled the series) who appreciate this, especially because of the 60% if you buy everything you don't have yet. Hope it gets a large number of sales for GOG!

GameRager: Thx alot.....
I'm not sure that's entirely true - Overseer is a remake of one of the earlier one, chronologically it comes before UAKM (I'm not sure if it's remake of the first or second one).

That's good to know, I bought all previously from GOG (updated my CD collection) but haven't yet updated to 7. I wonder what is stopping GOG from officially supporting Pandora Directive and Under a Killing moon on Windows 7

Highly recommend these games for those who like good adventure games, story driven with a bit of Full motion video.

That's a nice promo!
Has someone tested The Pandora Directive and Under a Killing Moon under Windows seven (64) . Are they really not compatible?

EDITED: Hups... I missed the answer to this very question in the message above before writing this one. Sorry...

They're all DOS games running in dosbox, so they are as compatible as any other DOS title with Windows 7 64 bit :)

Was only missing Pandora Directive and Overseer. These were nearly instant buys at this price, my only hesitation was wondering if GOG would put them on sale at 75% off during the summer...

Then I realized I want to support GOG as well as the creators of these beautiful games, and clicked "Buy".

Great! Thanks for that.

I do wonder that if there wasn't any problems with Pandora running on 7 that that small bit of info would be included on the game card. GOG may have dropped the ball on that one.

Cheers!

Overseer is more like Tex thinking back to his first case, and telling Chelsea about it. ( :

Well I'm not sure that I remember correctly but I think that GOG offers a money back policy if you cannot get the game working. They simply don't test their games under Win 7 so they don't want to make any promises. Anyway, enjoy these fantastic games!

True that - that was a silly remark by me.

GOG can offer no money back guarantee due to the DRM-free nature of the games; if they did that, then anyone so inclined could download a game, install it, proclaim it not worikng for him (even though it does), get a refund and still keep the installer.
(Of course, not too often, that would be suspicious, but with one game once in a while...)

Regarding Win7 compatibility, I think they indeed didn't test it, and even if they are 99.5% sure it will work with that OS, they're better off being safe than sorry.

They do test them under Windows 7, that's why they added 'Windows 7 Compatible' to lots and lots of the game's pages.

Tex 1+2 purchased and my Tex Murphy Collection is now complete. I wonder why Radio Theater is not included as bonus material while it's free to download on http://www.unofficialtexmurphy.com

GameRager: The staff only post extras they own themselves or have found. Maybe they didn't know about them.
Didn't know about Tex Murphy Radio Theater? Come on...everyone knows about it :-)
